Star guard Jimmy Butler has agreed to a four-year $142 million max deal to join the Miami Heat via sign-and-trade.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Zach Lowe reported the deal. "Jimmy Butler deal is complete with Heat -- with Clippers added as a fourth-team in trade that also includes Philadelphia and Portland, league sources tell @ZachLowe_NBA and me."

Jimmy Butler will sign a max contract, the 76ers will get Josh Richardson from the Heat. Maurice Harkless, who the Trail Blazers sent to the Heat with Meyers Leonard for Hassan Whiteside earlier in the day, will go to the Clippers in the deal and they will also get a future first round pick from the Heat to take on Harkless.

Despite the addition of Maurice Harkless, the Clippers will still keep enough cap space open for a max player. Harkless has significant playoff experience to surround Kawhi Leonard, in case he chooses to sign with them.

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

β€œThey told me to go win the game.” - Jimmy Butler

πŸ“Š: 34 PTS (18 in the 4th), 12 REB, 5 3PTS, 4 STL, 1 GM Winner (2nd in 8 days)

Via @ESPN

pic.twitter.com/vRGTcF4MGs
β€” Ballislife.com (@Ballislife) November 26, 2018
"}[/]

Jimmy Butler opted out of his $19.8 million player-option for next season and became a free agent and the 76ers were willing to cooperate with potential sign-and-trade scenarios to avoid losing Butler for nothing.

Signing Butler is a step in the right direction for the Heat. While he seemed to take a backseat to Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris at times last season, averaging 18.2 points in 55 regular season games with the 76ers (his lowest since 2013-14), Butler was clutch when the team needed a closer and he also contributed with 5.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.8 steals per game and shot 46.1 percent from the field.

Butler shined in the playoffs, averaging 19.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.5 steals on 45.1 percent shooting in 35.1 minutes over 12 games and he played very well in the second round against the Raptors, averaging 22.0 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.6 assists in seven games.

Odds to Win the 2019-20 NBA Championship
(Courtesy of BetOnline)

Los Angeles Lakers +300

Milwaukee Bucks +700

Toronto Raptors +700

Houston Rockets +900

Philadelphia 76ers +900

Golden State Warriors +1000

Los Angeles Clippers +1200

Boston Celtics +1400

Brooklyn Nets +1600

Denver Nuggets +1600

Utah Jazz +2000

Portland Trail Blazers +2500

Oklahoma City Thunder +2800

Dallas Mavericks +3300

Indiana Pacers +4000

New Orleans Pelicans +4000

San Antonio Spurs +5000

Miami Heat +6600

New York Knicks +8000

Sacramento Kings +8000

Atlanta Hawks +10000

Minnesota Timberwolves +10000

Orlando Magic +10000

Chicago Bulls +15000

Memphis Grizzlies +15000

Washington Wizards +15000

Detroit Pistons +20000

Charlotte Hornets +25000

Cleveland Cavaliers +25000

Phoenix Suns +25000
