The Miami Heat (32-28-4 ATS) have gotten hot with four wins in their past five games. Led by Goran Dragic, who is averaging 19 points per game, Miami is just two games behind Washington for the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference.

The Wizards (31-33-0 ATS) are coming off their first three-game losing streak of the season -- with all three defeats at home. They are finally showing signs of struggle in the absence of All-Star point guard John Wall. A lot has been said about the team being better without Wall and going 9-4 in the first 13 games without him. The conversation has revolved around ball movement, but the Wizards also have shown more defensive intensity.

A key to the Wizards' improved defense has been the return of Markieff Morris. He is finally getting into a groove after having sports hernia surgery, and his versatility on the defensive end has unlocked a variety of lineups for the team. Morris can play power forward and center in small-ball lineups, and he can effectively switch on to smaller defenders on the perimeter. The Wizards also utilize Kelly Oubre and Otto Porter’s length on the defensive end to disrupt passing lanes, helping Washington remain one of the NBA leaders in deflections.

The Wizards have one of the worst home ATS records (12-20), while Miami boasts one of the best away ATS records (21-11). With your NBA picks, look for these trends to be extended. The Heat will continue their strong play and cover the number on the NBA odds board.

Tuesday NBA: 76ers vs. HornetsFree NBA Pick: 76ers -1.5Best Line Offered: Pinnacle

The Sixers and Hornets are playing the second of four meetings over a three-week span in one of the more interesting NBA scheduling quirks of the season. Just four days ago the Sixers beat the Hornets 110-99, led by Joel Embiid’s 23-point effort. Embiid dominated Dwight Howard in the paint, outscoring him 23-6 and outrebounding him 15-6. Howard has struggled over the past week, scoring only 12 points and grabbing six rebounds on the three-game road trip at Boston, Toronto, and Philadelphia -- all Charlotte losses.

Philadelphia (35-25-2 ATS) is 15-15 ATS on the road this season and will look to improve on that mark against the Hornets, who are 17-16 ATS at home. Charlotte has a problem of being able to diversify their production and not rely solely on Kemba Walker for the majority of their scoring. Charlotte (27-33-4 ATS), a small underdog on the NBA odds board, hopes playing at home will allow their role players to step up and contribute.

Philly is just getting into a groove, with new additions of Marco Belinelli and Ersan Ilyasova in their full-blown pace-and-space style. They should be able to outduel Walker, so with your NBA picks take the Sixers and lay the points.
