The Magic are slowly getting healthier, and they are on the road for the first game of 2018 against the Brooklyn Nets. While neither team enjoys the best offensive production, the defense is going to be even worse on Monday night coming off the biggest party night of the season.

Magic vs. Nets

Both the Magic and Nets have been giving up a ton of points this season. They have both given up 111 per game over their last five, and on the road this season the Magic are giving up 113 points per game.

Their first two games against one another saw both teams score more than 120 points, and while the Nets have lost a ton of offense since then, the Magic are relatively healthy other than the loss of Nikola Vucevic.

With Evan Fournier and Aaron Gordon back in the lineup for Orlando, the Magic should be able to get away from their road woes offensively from the last month. Both teams in this one are allowing their opponents to shoot roughly 48 percent over the last five games, and that should play on the world’s biggest collective hangover day.

I’m sure these guys were somewhat limited in what they did for New Year’s Eve, but they were also in New York, so I’m sure there were few who stayed in the hotel or in the house.

Coming off the big party evening, it would not surprise me to see the defense go by the wayside. Considering it’s the Magic and Nets we’re talking about, who play at two of the top seven paces in the league, the over has to be the play here.

Even though we’ve lost a couple of overs from the last two nights, I’m going back to the well for my NBA picks in this 2018 matchup.
