Reap the benefits of this experienced handicapper's betting analysis for Game 4 of the playoff series between the Atlanta Hawks and the Washington Wizards on Monday.

Pivotal Game 4 for Atlanta at Washington
Washington will look to take a commanding 3-1 lead in their Eastern Conference playoff series when they host Atlanta on Monday at 7:05 PM ET. According to the NBA betting odds, Atlanta is a 4.0 point favorite, and the posted total is 198.5. All three games played this season in Washington between these Southeast Division rivals have gone over the total. The average combined points scored in those contests was 206.3. My area of concentration in this betting preview article will be geared toward the total.

Updated Look at Every Remaining Playoff Team's Championship Odds

Hawks Update
Despite allowing 103-points in their Game 3 heartbreaking defeat at Washington, Atlanta has allowed 97 or less in seven of the last ten games. The Hawks have done a terrific job of taking care of the basketball in recent games, eliminating opportunities for easy transition baskets by opponents. Atlanta has committed just 11 turnovers or less in each of their previous five games. One aspect of Atlanta’s game which has suffered during the playoffs has been their three-point shooting. The Hawks converted on a stellar 37.7% of their three-point attempts during the regular season, and is at 34.8% during its nine playoff games.

Defensive Wizards
When taking into account Washington’s whole body of work during this postseason they’ve been outstanding defensively. Washington has held opponents to just a combined 41.7% shooting from the field in seven playoff games , including 38% or less during three of those contests. The 98.6 points per game allowed by Washington during this postseason is a bit deceiving, and is more a result of an up tempo pace in those games.

NBA Totals Betting System
The Atlanta Hawks enter Monday’s game with a combined winning percentage during the regular season plus playoffs of .714, and Washington is at .584. The Hawks will be playing in just their fourth game in the ten days on Monday. The combination of this data creates a successful totals betting angle that I will weigh heavily when making my NBA picks for Monday.

Any road team (Atlanta) with a  total of 190.0 to 199.5, playing in their fourth game or less in the last ten days, and has a winning percentage of .600 to .750, versus an opponent (Washington) with a winning percentage of .510 to .600, resulted in that road team going 59-29 (67%) under the total since the beginning of the 1996-1997 NBA campaign. There were also 48.8% of those seventy-eight games that went under the total by 7.0 points or more.

NBA Picks: Play on Atlanta and Washington to go under the total of 198.5 at Wagerweb.
