Our very own NBA betting consultant will share his free picks on Game 6 of the series between Atlanta Hawks and Washington Wizards on Friday. Expect a low-scoring affair like we witnessed in Game 5.

Wizards on the Brink of Elimination in Game 6
The Wizards will attempt to stave off elimination when they host the Hawks on Friday in Washington at 7:05 PM ET. According to the NBA betting odds at Wagerweb, Washington is a 2.5 point favorite, and the posted total is 197.0. Atlanta leads the series 3-2 by virtue of a dramatic 82-81 home win on Wednesday. Atlanta failed to cover as a closing 7.5 point favorite.

Series Overview
The trend of alternating victories in this series ended in Game 5 when Atlanta became the first team to win two in a row. Prior to Game 5, these Southeast Division rivals had seen seven of their first eight meetings go over the total this season, and then Game 5 easily stayed under the number of 199.5.  Both teams shot the ball terribly during Game 5 in addition to being carless with the basketball. The teams combined to shoot just 39.2% from the field, go a dismal 9-for-39 (23.1%) from three-point territory, and committed a cumulative 42 turnovers. Each team also scored the fewest amount of points in a game during the 2015 NBA Playoffs.

Pertinent Game 6 Trends
-Washington has gone 10-2 over the total in home games this season when playing with same season revenge. The average points combined being scored in those games was 204.6 per outing.

-Since game 42 of the season, Washington is 10-1 over the total at home when facing an opponent with a winning record. The average points combined being scored in those games was 215.2.

-The Atlanta Hawks have gone 15-6 over the total this season when installed as an underdog. The average points combined being scored in those games was 214.4.

Final Analysis
I firmly believe both teams will be much better offensively in Game 6. Of course the general public has overwhelming wagered on going under the total for Friday’s game, and undoubtedly that’s a direct result of the offensive futility which was displayed in Game 5. All four games this season that were played in Washington between these clubs have gone over the total. Those contests averaged a combined 206.5 points per game being scored. I’m in favor of that trend continuing for one of my NBA picks on Friday.

NBA Pick: Atlanta and Washington to go over the total of 197.0  at Wagerweb.
