Our NBA consultant has honed in on the total for Game 4 of the playoff series between the Atlanta Hawks and Brooklyn Nets. Join us in reading this informative betting preview article.

Nets look to even Series versus Hawks on Monday
The Brooklyn Nets will look to even their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal Playoff series at 2-2 when they host the Atlanta Hawks on Monday at 7:05 PM ET. According to the NBA betting odds at Bookmaker, Atlanta is a 4.0 point favorite, and the posted total is 195.5. The Nets are coming off a 91-83 home win in Game 3 of the series on Saturday. It was Brooklyn’s first win over Atlanta in seven tries this season. Each of the first three games of this series has stayed under the total, and there were a combined 184.0 points scored per contest.

Hawks Need to Cure Recent Road Woes
As a result of their defeat on Saturday, the Atlanta Hawks have now gone a dismal 2-7 in their last nine games on the road. Even with that recent road funk, Atlanta is still a more than respectable 25-17 in away games this season. On a positive note, the Hawks have allowed 92-points or less in each of their previous four games. However, they also shot less than 40% from the floor in three of those four contests. Atlanta has gone under the total in nine of ten games on the road during the last two seasons following a straight up favorite loss.

Trend of Low Scoring Games Continues for Nets
The Brooklyn Nets have seen each of their previous seven games stay under the NBA odds total. The average combined score in those contests was 186.6 points per game. The Nets have scored just 92-points or less in five of their last six games. Brooklyn has seen twenty of twenty-five games (80%) this season stay under the total after losing two of their previous three games. They’ve also played on the low side of the number quite frequently this season when facing good shooting teams. The Nets have gone under the total in twenty-five of thirty-six (69.4%) when facing an opponent that shoots 36% or better from beyond the three-point line. Wagering on under the total in Nets games this season when they faced an opponent shooting 46% or better from the floor on the year has gone 20-9 (69%).

NBA Playoff Totals System
Any Game 4 of a first round playoff series with a total of 190.0 to 199.5, has seen 46 of those 60-games (76.7%) go under the total since 1996. Those 60-games averaged a combined 185.2 points scored per contest. There were 60.7% of those games that went under the number by 7.0 points or more. This is compelling enough evidence for me to predict another low scoring game in this series for one of my NBA picks on Monday.
