We’re going to examine Game 6 of the NBA playoff series between Atlanta and Brooklyn on Friday. Will Atlanta be able to shake off their recent road woes in order to close out this series? Can Brooklyn keep their winning ways at home intact to force a deciding Game 7 back in Atlanta?
Nets look to even the Series at Home versus Hawks on Friday
The Brooklyn Nets will attempt to even their playoff series at 3-3 when they host the Atlanta Hawks on Friday. The opening tip is slated for 8:05 PM ET. According to the NBA odds at WagerWeb, Atlanta is a 4.0 point favorite, and the posted total is 200.5. It will be the tenth overall meeting between these teams this season, Atlanta has won seven of the first nine, and five have gone over the total.
The home team has gone a perfect 5-0 in this series following a 107-97 win by Atlanta in Game 5 on Wednesday. Each of the previous two games in this series has gone over the total, and that was preceded by the first three going under the number. Both teams have shot the ball extremely well in the last two games with Brooklyn making 47.7% of their field goal attempts, and Atlanta at an even better 48.3%. During those two games, the Nets have converted on a superb 45.3% (24-53) of their three-point attempts, and the Hawks made a very good 39.4% (26-66) of their tries. Atlanta dominated the boards in Games 4 and 5 with a huge 117-86 rebounding advantage.
Sometimes the art of sports handicapping just needs to be kept in its simplest form for successful results. This is one of those occasions. Atlanta is 0-4 SU&ATS during the last four on the road, and is also a dismal 2-8 straight up in their previous ten away games. Contrarily, The Nets have gone 3-0 SU&ATS during the last three at home, and are very good 9-2 straight up in their last eleven at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. I’m siding with the home underdog for one of my NBA picks on Friday.
