Now’s the time to jump in the waters and try for two more basketball games on Sunday. There are four very valuable games today, and we have found two that hold some nice value for your NBA Picks.

Hornets vs. Heat
I said it yesterday on the NBA Odds Couple show, and I’ll say it again; the Hornets are one of the more undervalued teams in the playoffs. Charlotte is a very good defensive team, they have Kemba Walker, who is having a breakout season, and overall they are younger and deeper than the Miami Heat. However, the NBA Odds have the Heat as -4½ favorites in this one, with a total of right around 200 points.

Other than Hassan Whiteside, the Hornets can matchup well with the Heat at every position. Whiteside is going to be a force in this series, but the playoffs are won by guard play. When it comes to backcourts, the Hornets have the better one. Walker, Courtney Lee and Nicolas Batum are great on both ends of the court, and while the backcourt of Goran Dragic, Dwyane Wade and Joe Johnson has a lot of experience, they are also pretty long in the tooth.

These two teams split their season series against one another this year, with Charlotte winning their most recent game against one another. However, not only was that game in Miami, but the Heat were -4½ favorites much like tonight. Other than their first meeting way back in October, which was the first game of the season, the Hornets have won, or been within three points of Miami in all three of those games. Chris Bosh played in the first two games of the year as well, ad without him, it gives Charlotte one less matchup nightmare to worry about. For your NBA Pick, Take the points.

Blazers vs. Clippers
Another game we talked about a lot on the Odds Couple show was Portland and Los Angeles, and Mike Brenner and I really like the Clippers in this game. Portland is a good team, and deserves a lot of credit for what they accomplished this season. However, they overachieved, and it was mostly due to the Western Conference being nowhere near as good as last season.

Now the Clippers come into this one as an -8½ favorite, and much like Brenner, I really like the Clippers on the first half. At -4½, LA should be a great play on the first hale at home. This team has underperformed in the playoffs outside of last season where they actually got out of the first round, and after all the drama with Blake Griffin this season, I think they are ready to prove they are more than a second tier punch line in the Western Conference.

Griffin missed the last two games against Portland, and his return is going to cause some matchup nightmares for Portland. The Blazers have been starting a small lineup over their last ten games or so, and Griffin and DeAndre Jordan are going to make them pay for that. Even though the Blazers outrebounded the Clippers during the regular season, as long as LA controls the paint and boards, this is going to be an easy win for them. Portland’s defense is just not good enough to hold down this LA team at full strength.
