The Clippers & Wizards made the second round of the playoffs last season, but have disappointed in the new campaign. Who’ll get the upper hand, & our NBA pick, on Monday?

The Washington Wizards have been a team that has underachieved most of the season and has once again drawn pressure on head coach Randy Wittman. The good news is they have won four straight games to get back to .500. The main catalyst for this four-game winning streak has been John Wall, who has kicked his game up a notch. He’s averaging 19 points per game along with 13.8 assists over his last five. He’s averaged 22.8 points and 11.8 assists this month and is playing at an MVP-like level. If he keeps it up, the Wizards are going to be a solid bench each and every night.

However, the fact that the Clippers are road dogs on the NBA odds, which indicates that they’re not quite right themselves. They enter on a two-game winning streak but they are just 2-3 in their last five. The good news is that the Clippers have won 11 of their last 13 meetings with the Wizards. They have typically had the edge inside in this series and that’s given them the edge.

This is an interesting matchup here as if everything was right with both teams, you’d probably bet the Clippers. However, not all is right with both teams.

The Clippers will be without Blake Griffin, which is a big blow. He scores 23.2 points, 8.7 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game. This is a very different team when he’s not in the lineup as they lose their main scoring threat on the inside. They have to become more of a perimeter team as evidenced by their latest win at Utah when they made 13-of-26 threes. The 13 makes were their most this season. Even so, without Griffin, this matchup becomes easier for the Wizards defensively.

However, the Wizards aren’t exactly healthy. They’re without Brad Beal, Nene and Gary Neal. The loss of Beal and Neal takes a lot of scoring off the team as Beal leads the team in scoring and Neal leads all bench scorers. The Wizards will need another huge game from Wall if they’re to win again.

Both teams are banged up and aren’t playing overly well this season. The matchup doesn’t appear to benefit either side.

What’s The Pick?
The best bet for my NBA picks here is going to be a play on the total. The side doesn’t look overly appealing as the Wizards are 7-7 at home while the Clippers are 8-7 on the road. Both teams are banged up and missing a lot of offensive weapons, so I’m going to go with the under in this spot. No Beal, Neal and Griffin on both sides likely means that we’ll see an under in this spot on Monday.
