The Dallas Mavericks travel to Charlotte to visit the Hornets in the 2nd meeting this season. Charlotte won the previous matchup, scoring a 108-94 victory in Dallas. See today's NBA picks here.

Dallas Mavericks vs. Charlotte Hornets
A quick look at the standings shows that these teams are in reverse places from recent seasons. Dallas is clinging to the final playoff spot in the West with Utah challenging at just 2 games back. For the Hornets, after languishing on the playoff periphery (or well below for many seasons), the Hornets’ record of 37-28 SU is good enough for 5th place in the East. A closer inspection reveals that the Hornets are just 1 game in the loss column from 3rd place, but also just 4 games in the loss column from the 8th position. The current form of these two reflects the reality of the standings.

Dallas is an aging team with veteran HC Carlisle at the helm. The truth is that their .500 record accurately represents their abilities. If they do indeed qualify for the upcoming playoffs, it will be a very short series against either Golden St. or San Antonio. Currently, the Mavs are on a 0-5 SU ATS slide, following their (112-105) home loss to Indiana on Saturday. The culprit has been on the defensive side of the ball, where Dallas has allowed more than 100 points, 14 consecutive games, for a defensive allowance 110 PPG in that time span. The Hornets will be eager to extend the Dallas’ defensive misery.

At last, Charlotte is beginning to reach the potential that many saw in this team. It is keyed by the inside/outside tandem of Jefferson and Walker. After beginning the season at 19-23 SU, the Hornets have gone 18-5 SU of late and they are only getting better! In the last 14 games, Charlotte has gone 12-2 SU, 11-3 ATS. Tonight, they enter this contest on an 8-game home winning streak. In the previous 7 games, the Hornets are averaging 118 PPG, knocking down 43% of their triples. That fits hand in glove with the poor performance of Dallas on the defensive end.

With the mindsets of these teams reflecting their current records, the Mavs and the Hornets are now accurate reflections of their records. The linemaker has made an adjustment for the fact that the Hornets have 5 less losses than the Mavs. But, there is yet to be an adjustment for the dichotomous current form of these teams.

For that reason, I invite you to put the NBA odds in your favor and join me in my NBA picks on the Charlotte Hornets tonight.Be sure to also take a look at tonight's top value plays to grow your bankroll.
