A first round clash of the No. 7 and No. 2 Western Conference seeds begins Saturday when Memphis travels to San Antonio. Let’s review the NBA odds for this one and see if the Grizzlies can hang with the Spurs.

Memphis Grizzlies (43-39 SU, 41-41 ATS) At Spurs (61-21 SU, 42-38-2 ATS)

San Antonio is 1-4 ATS in their last five Saturday games.

San Antonio is 0-4 ATS in their last four games as a favorite.

San Antonio is 1-4 ATS in their last five playoff games as a favorite of 5.0-10.5.

San Antonio is 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games overall.

Memphis is 8-3 ATS in their last 11 Saturday games.

Memphis is 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following an ATS loss.

Memphis is 4-1 ATS in their last five games as a road underdog of 5.0-10.5.

Memphis is 4-1 ATS in their last five road games vs. a team with a winning home record.

These clubs split the four-game regular season series, with the Grizzlies defeating the Spurs in the first two games, both at Memphis. The Spurs copped the last two contests in San Antonio but what didn’t change was that Memphis covered the NBA odds in all four contests. Perhaps that is why the series price set by offshore bookmaker 5Dimes opened at San Antonio -1500/+700 and quickly fell to San Antonio -1050/+675. The sharps are seeing an opportunity for a first-round upset, and I stated the same in my series preview.

However, this game will be played in San Antonio and the Spurs have traditionally been tough at home. That said, if you peer inside the numbers you will notice that even though the Spurs posted an impressive 31-10 home mark, their ATS record was an unimpressive 19-22. In the last two games played between these clubs at the AT&T Center, the Spurs came away with a 97-90 win on March 23 and a 95-89 victory on April 4 as eight and nine point favorites, respectively.

Neither of these clubs looked impressive down the stretch. The Grizzlies dropped five of their last six regular-season games, going 2-4 against the spread, while the Spurs lost four of their last five with a 1-3-1 ATS mark. When you review the rosters of both clubs you will see that the Spurs have a more talented and deep group, but the Grizzlies match up well as they limited San Antonio to an average of 90.5 points per game in their four meetings this season. This will be an ugly, defensive battle and that’s why I believe the 9½ points is too much to pass up in our NBA picks on Saturday night.

Free NBA Pick: Grizzlies +9½

Best Line Offered: BetOnline

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3189219, "sportsbooksIds":[1096,19,274,1389,1252], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]
