Ben Simmons is available for the Philadelphia 76ers this Thursday, but given his condition, the Brooklyn Nets look like the right NBA pick for this matchup.

Jason’s 2018-19 NBA picks record through Mar. 26:
22-21-1 ATS, 0-4 ML (minus-9.35 units), 32-14 Totals

Brooklyn (38-37 SU, 41-34 ATS) at Philadelphia (47-27 SU, 34-40 ATS)

Thursday, 8:00 p.m. ET

Free NBA Pick: Nets ATS

Recommended Sportsbook: BetOnline

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3569086, "sportsbooksIds":[238,93,1096,19,999991], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]

Ben Simmons must be in pretty rough shape. He sat out Monday’s game between the Philadelphia 76ers and Orlando Magic with a case of gastroenteritis; Philadelphia ended up losing 119-98 as 2-point road dogs, leaving the Sixers at 6-2 SU and 3-5 ATS over their past eight games. Word has it that Simmons will be available for Thursday’s game against the Brooklyn Nets, but for whatever reason, the NBA odds for this matchup have yet to be posted as we go to press.

We can live with that. This already figures to be a good spot to put the Nets in our NBA picks, and if Simmons is going to play at less than 100-percent, all the better for us. Grab an ice-cold mug of pink bismuth and join us as we take a closer look at this all-Atlantic contest.

The Price Of Liberty

As you can see by their ATS records, this has been a profitable year for Brooklyn supporters, and not so much for the Sixers. Expectations were low for the Nets coming into 2018-19, although they’ve clearly been on the right path ever since Sean Marks took over as GM three years ago; the development of players like D’Angelo Russell (plus-3.1 BPM) and Jarrett Allen (plus-2.5 BPM) has Brooklyn on the cusp of making the playoffs for the first time since 2015.

Meanwhile, expectations were sky-high in Philadelphia, and they got even higher after the additions of Jimmy Butler (plus-3.4 BPM) in mid-November, and Tobias Harris (plus-0.2 BPM) at the trade deadline. How well these pieces fit around Simmons (plus-4.3 BPM) and Joel Embiid (plus-3.5 BPM) is the big question – that, and Embiid’s general health. The Sixers are 13-7 SU and 9-11 ATS since Harris made his debut.

Three Out Of Three Ain’t Bad

We’ve already seen Philly throw multiple different lineups at the Nets this year, and the result was the same each time: Brooklyn covered. The two teams split a pair of games SU at Barclays, then the Nets came to the WFC on December 12 and won 127-124 as 5.5-point puppies. Simmons and Embiid both played for the Sixers while Butler sat out.

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

.@JimmyButler on if there’s any extra prep tomorrow for a potential playoff opponent like the Nets: “No” #Sixers ;/a>
— Ky Carlin (@Ky_Carlin) 27 de março de 2019
\n"}[/]

The Nets were at close to full capacity for that contest, and with Thursday’s game not being part of a back-to-back scenario for either club, it should be all hands on deck for Brooklyn. They’re still fighting to nail down that valuable playoff spot; the Sixers have already clinched, and are currently third in the Eastern Conference with not much hope of improving – although they could fall into fifth place if they don’t watch it. See if you like the odds when they come out, then prepare to load up on the Nets. It’s just the right thing to do.
