The Nuggets and Rockets may be the best game the Friday slate both to watch and for its NBA odds. Right now the sportsbooks have the Rockets at -8½ favorites, but it’s the first-half total that looks to be the best value.

These two teams have not played one another since November, and while a lot has changes since then the principal of their matchup stays the same: Both of these teas can score a lot of points.

If it’s up to the Rockets, they will try and speed this game up to their liking so they can take advantage of the Nuggets in transition. This will add up to a lot of shot attempts, especially early in the game. So far this season when playing at home, the Rockets own the best offensive rating of all teams in the first half at 117.1. If their average of more than 61 points in the first half holds in this one, the first half total is a steal of a value at 113½.

In their last meeting, the Rockets hung 75 points on the Nuggets in the first half, and both on the road and recently the Nuggets have been no strangers to giving up points. They have allowed 58.2 points per first half over their last five games, and they are giving up 56.5 points per first half on the road this season. Take a look at footage from these two teams’ last meeting. The Rockets get anything they want against Denver in the first half.

Also on the road this season, the Nuggets rank 28th in first-half defensive rating, allowing 113.1 points per 100 possessions. I could easily see both teams pushing into the high 50s, or even low 60s in the first half of this one.
