Tulsa Shock vs. Seattle Storm
It has been a miserable season for the Shock so far, as they find themselves in last place in the Western Conference with a 3-13 overall record. They're 2-5 at home and 1-8 on the road.
Now they have to deal with Seattle on the heels of a six-game losing streak, with all but one of those defeats coming by at least double digits.
What are the WNBA odds like for this afternoon's game? The Storm opened as six-point favorites and that number has been bet up slightly to 6.5, while the total has dropped from 147 to 145.5. Both teams are even in the ATS arena, with Seattle at 7-7 ATS and Tulsa at 8-8 ATS.
The Storm have some nice balance to their team and are terrific defensively, but we actually think the best basketball betting value lies with the visiting Shock today.
For one, Tulsa will have the most dominant player on the court in Glory Johnson. She's averaging 16.1 PPG and 10.2 RPG on the season and is set to return after recovering from a neck injury that forced her to miss the loss to Minnesota.
Skylar Diggins is reportedly out today, but the Shock do have the players to cover. Riquna Williams, Elizabeth Cambage, Nicole Powell, and Candice Wiggins can all play at a high level, and Roneeka Hodges, Jennifer Lacy, and Angel Goodrich are getting quite a few minutes as well.
Seattle hasn't exactly been killing it over the last month or so, going 2-5 over their past seven games. We'll therefore be recommending a play on the underdogs for this afternoon's game inside key Arena.
Pick: Tulsa Shock +6.5
We've already handed out our ATS pick for this game, but let's try to find a total play to add to sports picks as well.
Coming in, the Sparks (7-7 ATS) are unsurprisingly ranked high in every offensive category. They're first in points per game at 85.8 and are also dishing out a league-high 19.6 assists per contest.
Ahead of tonight's game at home, L.A. has scored at least 88 points in five straight games, three of which were at home. They've won all five of those matchups, making them the hottest team in the WNBA at this juncture.
The Dream (9-4 ATS) are banged up right now, as Angel McCoughtry, Sancho Lyttle, and Tiffany Hayes all missed the team's last game. That's three of Atlanta's top four scorers right there.
McCoughtry could return to the lineup tonight, but Lyttle is out long term and Hayes could be missing too, which would severely hamper Atlanta on the offensive end.
Moreover, the Dream have been making their living as a top-notch defensive team this season, and they'll know they have to step it up even more on that front against an elite team like the Sparks. Atlanta has allowed 71.7 PPG this season, the second-lowest mark in the WNBA.
Though the Sparks are efficient as you can get offensively, we're not so sure the Dream will be able to come anywhere near that kind of level tonight. We could easily see a blowout, which would help this UNDER play cash.
Pick: UNDER 160.5
