For our total NBA pick we head to Memphis where the Grizzlies take on the Nets. Tonight things don't get easier for Brooklyn, but what I like is for more of a defensive battle & a low score.

NBA Odds
NBA Odds makers have this total set at 191.5 across the board. For my NBA total pick of the day I'm going to take under this number. You can still get pretty good odds like at Pinnacle Sports under this number at -104.

Brooklyn Nets
So far this season Brooklyn has averaged 87.5 points per game, shot 41.2% from the field, and 20% from distance. Up and down this line up there simply is not a lot of guys that are going to do a lot of damage around the perimeter. Brook Lopez is a pretty decent center, but last time I checked he doesn't shoot the ball from beyond the arc. Joe Johnson is getting up there in years and it seems like his best ones are behind them, all due respect. They also might have to rely on point guard Jarret Jack to handle part of the offensive load. Let me write that again, they might have to rely on scoring from Jarret Jack.

Defensively the Nets have allowed 108.5 points per game, 50% shooting from the field, and 46% from beyond the arc. Again though, that was against Chicago in Chicago, and San Antonio in San Antonio. So I don't want to be too hard on head coach Lionel Hollins whom I respect a lot. They get a slightly better matchup tonight in Memphis, his former team, and I think the pace will be slow downed as compared to their last two games but with a similar result in the loss column.

Memphis GrizzlMust Readies
Memphis has averaged 94 points per game, 42.7% shooting from the field, and 28.1% from beyond the arc. They bounced back from a horrible game against Cleveland to put up some solid points against Indiana, a game in which we had the over. They aren't really a get up and down transition type of offense though and I look for them to play half-court to half-court against the Brooklyn team that will probably try to play within a reasonable pace.

Defensively Memphis has allowed 104.5 points per game, 48.1% shooting, and 42.4% shooting from beyond the arc. Those numbers are unacceptable to Memphis standards and I've a feeling they're going to be in lockdown mode this evening. Brooklyn really struggled in the second half versus San Antonio and I think that carries over into today's game against a defensive minded team in the Grizzlies.

The number is just a little bit too high in my opinion, and for one of your NBA Picks I suggest backing under the total when these two meet tonight in Memphis. Expect a bit of a slower pace and for both teams to work their interior guys like Lopez, Marc Gasol, and Zack Randolph. There shouldn't be a ton of action from beyond the arc either or in transition. Expect a grind out sort of game that goes under the total with Memphis winning pretty easily, take under 191.5.
