Toronto pulled out an overtime win in Denver the other night while the Sacramento Kings lost their fourth game in a row. Tonight they meet up in Sacramento and odds makers have made Toronto a small road favorite. Can Sacramento turn their season around?

Toronto Raptors

Toronto finished a brutal two-game stretch taking on Cleveland and Golden State prior to their overtime win in Denver. On the season they are not playing defensively as well as they did last year but on the other side of the ball, they have been quite efficient. Currently, the Raptors rank sixth in the NBA in both two-point shooting percentage and field goals made per game, and their pushing tempo more averaging 86.4 attempts per contest which rank 12th in the NBA.

Despite their offensive surge Toronto still, I believe is not one of the elite scoring teams in the NBA and their statistics are mostly do with playing a fair share of up-tempo teams. On the other side of the ball defensively, where they thrived last season, they have not been the lockdown type of defense that they were just a year ago. They're allowing opponents to shoot over 45% from the field and over 50% of their two-point shots ranking them 17th and 24th in the league respectively. They also are not defending  the extra pass particularly well as they rank 15th in opponent assist per game. With already losing to this same Sacramento team earlier this season I like the Kings to at worst take this game to the wire.

Sacramento Kings

Sacramento has really struggled to lose his last four games in a row, however, their last two contests were against two of the better teams in the Western Conference in the San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers. Tonight I like how they matchup with Toronto and look for this game to be more defensive minded and for Sacramento to control the tempo. Head coach Dave Joerger has talked recently about going small in his lineups but I don't think that will take much away from how they try to control the pace of the game.

Currently the Kings rank second to last in the league and field-goal attempts per game and offensively across the board they rank along the middle of the NBA like ranking 11th in shooting efficiency. There is nothing that highlights them on the offensive side of the ball, and they definitely are not playing that well defensively statistically. Still, they have a good core of veterans and I expect for them to give a maximum effort tonight to get out of their recent funk.
