It’s another Thursday in the NBA season, and after a huge card last night, there are only two NBA Odds tonight. With the shorter card, we have to extract value however we can, and I have a parlay for tonight that I am feeling great about for my NBA Picks.

Spurs vs. Rockets
The early game tonight is a battle for Texas as the Spurs head into Houston to play on Thursday night. The NBA odds have the Spurs as +3 ½ underdogs, with a total anywhere between 200 ½, and 202 ½. Last night the Spurs took care of the Hawks at home, and Tim Duncan has a monster game for the Spurs and for fantasy owners. However therein lies the problem, because we have seen this story unfold before, and this early in the season, off of the back to back, the Spurs may rest some of their players tonight.

Duncan played 35 minutes last night, while Tony Parkers played 37. This is a lot of minutes for a Greg Popovich team early in the season, and on the second night of a back to back, Pop may elect to rest some of his players. While nothing is set in stone, and absolutely no news has broken about it, this is simply my speculation. It is unfolding all to perfectly for Pop to tell Duncan and Parker to take a seat tonight, even against a potential playoff matchup and rival. The Spurs don’t play again until Saturday back at home, and I could easily see Duncan and Parker not even getting on the plane. Nothing has been announced yet, but for my NBA picks I'm laying the -3 ½ with the Rockets as a precaution, because even if they do end up playing, the Rockets are the more rested team right now.

Mavericks vs. Blazers
The final game tonight also includes  the final Texas team, as the Mavs head into Portland to play the Blazers. Unlike the previous game, neither one of these teams had to play last night, and it’s led the NBA odds to favor the Blazers at -2 ½, with a total anywhere in between 206 ½ and 208 ½. However I’m not sold on the Blazers this season and after starting the year 2-2 SU and not looking great while doing it, I am taking points with the Mavs tonight.

Dallas is a strong team this season, ad may take over the role the Blazers had last year of playoff spoiler. Dallas added a ton of talent on both ends of the floor this offseason, and never since 2010 has Dallas seen this much talent on the floor. While I don’t think it means they will win the championship, they will surely be in the second round of the playoffs this season. They have more depth than the Blazers, more offense than the Blazers, and even though their guard defense is a little shabby, with all of their depth, they will get bailed out tonight against the Blazers. I am taking the points on the second leg of our parlay tonight. The Blazers are 0-6 ATS dating back to last season when playing as an favorite between -1/2 and -5, and dating back to last season they are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games as favorites. This while the Mavs have covered 10 of their last 12 dating back to last season, and they are 42-18 ATS in their last 60 games as a dog.
