It’s like Christmas and it’s not even Halloween! The NBA is back and tonight is my first opportunity to make your Thursday night with an NBA odds parlay. Lebron James is playing his first game back in a Cavs uniform, and that’s the first game of my two NBA picks.

Knicks vs. Cavaliers
In one of the most anticipated home openers in a long time, the Cavs host the Knicks in Lebron James’ return to his home state.  NBA Odds makers have the line favoring the Cavs at a big margin of -12 ½, with a total of 202 ½. Last night the Bulls dominated the Knicks in New York, and now with the Knicks traveling, things might not get that much better against another Eastern Conference elite.

However at +12 ½, against a team that largely hasn’t played much together, the Knicks are not without a shot to keep this within 10 points at the end of the game. However because this spread is so close, I am going instead with a play on the total. At 202 ½, this line may be just a bit high for these two teams. The Cavs and James will slow down Carmelo Anthony coming off the early season back to back, and outside of him, the Knicks’ scoring punch is virtually non-existent. That will lead to a lower scoring game tonight, and the under cashing. On top of that, I don’t think we should expect the Cavs to drop 120 tonight either. I’m seeing a final score of 102-88, and the under cashing us a winning NBA Pick.

Thunder vs. Clippers
After a fun game last night including the Thunder, now OKC has to travel into Los Angles for a date with the Clippers in their home opener. The NBA odds have this one in favor of the Clippers at a huge -12, with a  total of 203 ½. Once again the TNT game has a double digit spread, and when that happens, it’s best to go with a total bet. Besides, this total is extremely low for these two offenses, and while Oklahoma City struggled last night with half of their team missing, I think they’ll find more success scoring against the transition-based Clippers.

That being said, the over is definitely the play in the late game tonight. Even though the under has cashed in the last three games, those were playoff contests, and the totals were 213 and up. Now with a total of ten less points, we should be able to cash some valuable NBA Picks. The over is 7-2 in the Clippers’ last nine games as home favorites in 2013-2014, and the over is 4-0 in the Thunder’s last four games as an underdog of +11 or more.

While there are some other games on tap tonight that might be better spread wagers, these two games are much better for the total. For instance Dallas should crush Utah but once again the NBA Odds are double digits. Overall on this short-carded NBA night, let’s stick to the totals to get some valuable free NBA picks.
