Three times cut the ribbon on the 2014-15 NBA season last night and now 24 more will get in the swing of things on Wednesday night. There’s a huge menu to choose from and we’ve narrowed down our three best NBA picks from the card.

Chicago Bulls vs. New York Knicks
Derrick Rose has looked very strong in the preseason and you can expect the Chicago Bulls to come out of the gates very strong this season. They want to make a statement. On the other side of this matchup, we have the New York Knicks, who – like the Los Angeles Lakers last night – are a team in transition. There’s a new head coach, a new system and a new point guard. Yes, they managed to keep Carmelo Anthony but there are still a lot of holes on this roster. The Knicks were eight games under .500 last season and finished just 19-22 at home. Meanwhile, the Bulls, who played most of the season without Rose, still finished 21-20 on the road.

This is just a mismatch on the court and while the Knicks will be valiant at home on opening night, take the Bulls in this spot. They’ll cash in.

Golden State Warriors vs. Sacramento Kings
The Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings actually play more unders than you would think, but this is one spot where I do expect a high-scoring affair. The two sides have played under in six of their last eight meetings but neither team plays a particularly strong brand of defense.

There are far too many weapons on both sides of this game to see this game stay low scoring. With DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay leading the way for the Kings and Steph Curry and Klay Thompson leading the way for the Warriors, I expect lots of offense and minimal defense in this one. Go with the over in this spot.

Houston Rockets vs. Utah Jazz
The Houston Rockets will be in the second game of a back-to-back here but I don’t think that’s a huge problem considering the season just started. Houston looked very sharp in Los Angeles last night, blowing the Lakers out of the water. They easily handled them with a 108-90 result and now they’re back on the road facing another Western Conference weakling.

Talk of the Rockets demise may have been overblown. Sure, they didn’t land Chris Bosh but Terrence Jones continues to improve as a power forward. He had 16 points on 8-of-16 shooting last night with 13 rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks. The Rockets scored 108 last night while getting only 13 from Dwight Howard. And although they lost Chandler Parsons, Trevor Ariza looks like he fits in well (16 points, three rebounds, two assists, two steals last night).

The Jazz are a young, inexperienced team that’s going to go through plenty of growing pains this year. The Rockets look very strong one again. Take the Rockets with your NBA picks.
