There are just five games on the NBA betting card on Friday night but one very important showdown. The Cleveland Cavaliers and Chicago Bulls clash a showdown of Eastern Conference titans. Here’s a look at that game as well as some other picks for tonight.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Chicago Bulls
It’s somewhat unclear whether the Cavaliers dismal performance last night was a one-game aberration or whether or not they are truly a team in a bit of trouble. They were outcoached last night, outscored 41-12 on the bench were disjointed offensively. While we’re not sure if they’ll pick up the pace tonight versus the Chicago Bulls (unlikely), what we do know is that their offense – and the team chemistry – is a work in progress. It’ll take them some time. The challenge is that while they only scored 90 against a weak New York Knicks team, they’ll probably have a tough time getting to that number on the road against an excellent defensive team in Chicago. That being the case, under seems to be the best choice. It’s only the second game of the season but there is a palpable tension that this is an important, early meeting between the two teams that are supposed to be the best in the East. Look for the Bulls to really clamp down defensively and guide this game under the NBA odds.

Portland Trail Blazers vs. Sacramento Kings
The Sacramento Kings are just one game into the 2014-15 season but the results are about the same as they’ve been over the last five years: lousy. In their home opener, they committed a whopping 27 turnovers, connected on just 24 field goals and shot 30.8% from the field. DeMarcus Cousins again fought foul trouble and Rudy Gay’s volume shooting didn’t help matters.

Portland is a far more balanced, disciplined team with excellent inside-out balance between Damian Lillard and LaMarcus Aldridge. They have far more depth and options than the Kings. Although I don’t like laying a ton of points on the road, this is one spot where it makes sense for your NBA picks.

Los Angeles Clippers vs. Los Angeles Lakers
I was expecting a Clippers blowout last night as they hosted the shorthanded Oklahoma City Thunder but it never came to fruition. However, tonight should be what we were looking for. The Clippers are back at home with a chance to make a statement to their in-town rivals.

The Los Angeles Lakers limp into this meeting as a disjointed, beaten up team. They were rolled by 18 at home to the Houston Rockets on Tuesday and then by 20 on the road by the Phoenix Suns. They just don’t have the defense to compete as they’re giving up 113.5 per game so far and the Clippers, who were one of the highest scoring teams in the NBA last season, should take advantage.
