The San Antonio Spurs haven’t lost back-to-back games this season, as they prepare to take on the Dallas Mavericks Thursday night.

Let’s take a closer look at the NBA betting odds for this Western Conference matchup at the American Airlines Center, with the opening tip scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET.

Disappointing effort

San Antonio suffered a 111-98 setback to the Houston Rockets as 7.5-point home favorites Wednesday, while going UNDER the betting total for the first time in six contests.

The Spurs are one of two NBA teams that haven’t dropped consecutive games this season, as they look to improve upon their 12-3 SU record on the road, including a 7-3 mark versus conference rivals.

Playing solid basketball

Dallas is 3-2 SU/ATS in its last five games, with each of those contests going OVER the betting total.

The Mavericks are 11-3 SU at this venue during the 2013-14 campaign, including a 6-2 mark versus conference foes.

It’s important to point out that the franchise is 5-6 SU and 6-5 ATS versus teams with a winning record.

Series domination

NBA handicappers need to take a look at the road favorites in this spot, as the Spurs have won their last five games against the Mavericks by an average of 17.4 points.

San Antonio captured all four meetings during the 2012-13 season series, with point guard Tony Parker averaging 20.7 points and 8.3 assists in three of those affairs.

The Mavericks are going to be a dangerous team down the stretch with forward Dirk Nowitzki’s knee feeling better each day, as he’s averaging a team-leading 21.5 points, which is 4.2 more than a season ago.

Nowitzki tallied his third game of scoring 30-plus points last time out—finishing with 31 in a 111-104 victory over the Rockets as four-point road underdogs Monday.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Spurs for their NBA picks, as they’ve gone 36-16-2 ATS in their last 54 games following a SU loss of 10 or more points.
