Last night we went against the Cleveland Cavaliers, and tonight we will do the same. I'm not trying to pick on Cleveland,  this is about value and tonight the value is with the San Antonio Spurs.

NBA Pick: Spurs -2

NBA odds makers have come out making San Antonio a -2.5 favorite and the total around 205. This is a good revenge spot for Cleveland, but they're coming off a game last night and it is never easy to come home after a road contest. I am sure the Cavaliers will be well fired up to take on San Antonio, but I believe the Spurs are about to go on a serious winning streak after their debacle at Golden State.  For my selection I will back them minus the points in this spot.

San Antonio Spurs
San Antonio is averaging 104.5 points per game while shooting 49.1% from the field, and allowing 90.6 points per game on 42.7% shooting from the field. On the season they are very good 31-15 overall against the spread, and 13-8 on the road. After their horrible loss at Golden State they bounced back throttling the Houston Rockets, and I anticipate they are not done getting back to establishing themselves as one of the elite teams in the league. Offensively they rank first in the league in shooting percentage and second in shooting efficiency, effective field-goal percentage, two point shooting percentage, and shooting percentage from beyond the arc. I'm not putting a lot of stock into their loss at Golden State, because those games simply happen sometimes, especially to the Warriors. As far as scoring they are as efficient as they have ever been. Defensively they are arguably the best team in the league and rank first in opponent field goals and three pointers made per game, as well as opponent effective field-goal percentage. The Spurs also rank second in opponent two and three point shooting percentage, and opponent shooting efficiency. There really is not any sort of weakness with this club and I think the game they just had against Golden State is only going to make them that much better from this point going forward. I expect them to bring their "A" game tonight.

Cleveland Cavaliers
Cleveland is averaging 101.6 points per game while shooting 45.3% from the field, and allowing 95.9 points per game on 44.3% shooting from the field. On the season they are 20-23-1 overall against the spread, and 10-11 at home. With the recent coaching change it seems they're going to try and change things up a bit as far as pace goes, but as I have mentioned this will most likely hurt them on the defensive end. Offensively the Cavaliers have been good and decently efficient ranking eighth and fifth in shooting efficiency and effective field-goal percentage respectively. They also average 28.2 three point attempts per game while making 10 of those ranking them fifth in the league in those categories. They have a lot of weapons, but tonight they face a stiff test coming off a back to back, traveling back home, and trying to score against the league's best defense. On the defensive side I like what Cleveland has done this year and they rank third in the league in scoring defense. They have done a nice job in controlling tempo and rank in the top 10 in most offensive categories, so why they want to change that strategy is beyond me. On the season the Cavaliers have good statistics overall allowing opponents to shoot just 34.1% from beyond the arc, and only 35.9 field goals made per game which ranks fifth in the NBA. I could be wrong so it'll be interesting to see the direction in which the Cavaliers head from this point forward. Tonight though coming off a back to back against an extremely good basketball team in the Spurs will be a bit too tough of a task, even at home.

This is a small number on a very good San Antonio team looking to establish themselves again. With Cleveland coming back home after last night's game to take on an extremely good defensive team will be difficult. For one of your NBA picks I recommend backing San Antonio minus the small points and look for them to win this game by more than five.
