Chicago Bulls travel to San Antonio to face the 2nd best team in the NBA, the San Antonio Spurs. These teams have met once this season with Chicago being victorious. See my NBA pick here.

Chicago Bulls vs. San Antonio Spurs
That’s all the motivation the Spurs will need, as they continue the momentum of a (116-91) victory at Minnesota on Tuesday.

The Bulls seem to have turned a corner. They broke a 4-game losing streak, when leading scorer Jimmy Butler returned to the lineup on Saturday. He scored 24 points and led the Spurs to a 101-100 victory that halted the Bulls’ 4-game losing streak. Chicago continued the momentum with a (100-90) win vs. Milwaukee on Monday. But, Butler sat out that game and is now taking his ailing knee to Alabama for a 2nd opinion.

He is expected to miss this Thursday Nighter with the Spurs and tomorrow vs. Miami. Clearly, he is important to the offensive fortunes of this Chicago team, whose defense has dropped precipitously this year to 102.5 PPG (5th worst in the East) as a result of the coaching change from Thibodeaux to Hoiberg. At 32-30 SU for the season, Chicago clings to the 8th spot in the East, which sees no fewer than 8 teams within 4 games of that final playoff spot. But without a defense or Butler, it seems improbable that the Bulls will slow San Antonio (at least on this court).

For, it is here that the Spurs have won 30 consecutive games this season to lift their run of consecutive home victories to 39 wins which began on March 12th of last year. The Spurs split a pair of games this week without HC Popovich, who was attending to personal matters. On Monday, with all hands on deck, the Spurs played a horrendous offensive game, shooting just 35% and making only 4 (3) pointers. As expected, even with 3 starters resting, San Antonio bounced back smartly the next night, shooting 55% in a (116-91) victory at Minnesota. Interim Asst. Coach, Messina, said “this is a well-oiled machine. It goes on.

You try to sit at the wheel and not mess it up.” Tonight, HC Popovich is expected to return to the bench. All Spurs are expected to play and San Antonio wins their 31st consecutive home game with a revenge romp against the Bulls. Note that San Antonio is 33-17 ATS as a favorite of 7 or more points, including 19-10 ATS on this floor.

I invite you to put the NBA odds boards in your favor and join me in my NBA Picks on San Antonio tonight.
