The Detroit Pistons and Miami Heat have played two high-scoring affairs this season, as they prepare to meet for a third time Monday night. Who has our handicapper decided to back for his NBA picks? Find out here!

Let’s take a closer look at the NBA betting odds for this Eastern Conference matchup at AmericanAirlines Arena, with the opening tip scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.

Hitting the road

Detroit hits the road after picking up back-to-back home wins over the Philadelphia 76ers and Orlando Magic, while both contests went UNDER the betting total.

The Pistons are 10-12 SU when playing away from home during the 2013-14 campaign, including a 9-6 mark versus conference rivals.

Over the last two-plus seasons, the franchise is 2-17 SU and 4-15 ATS as road underdogs of 9.5 to 12 points.

Miami should be motivated to play this game before heading off on a six-game Western road trip, as it dropped a 107-97 decision to Detroit as nine-point home favorites on Dec. 3, but did manage to avenge that loss by securing a 15-point victory in Detroit five days later.

The Heat will need to continue their recent run on the boards to pull off a spread victory, as they’ve tallied a +7.5 rebounding margin over their last four games.

Plenty of firepower

NBA handicappers need to take a look at the betting total in this matchup, considering the Pistons have four of five probable starters averaging double figures, with point guard Brandon Jennings leading the way at 17.0 points a contest.

The former Milwaukee Bucks star is averaging 24.8 points in his last five games, including a 20-point performance versus the 76ers last time out.

The King

Heat forward LeBron James suffered a shoulder injury in the team’s road win over the New York Knicks last Saturday, but he’s listed as probable to play on the latest injury reports.

James’ 24.7-point scoring average against the Pistons is his second-lowest against any league opponent.

I’m going to recommend that readers take a look at the total as one of their pro basketball picks, as the OVER is 4-1 in the last five meetings in this series.

NBA Pick: Over 207.5
