Jordan Sharp

After a good first week of hoops action, the NBA starts off another week here on Monday night. The NBA Odds for today aren’t as plentiful as a normal Monday, however there are still some nice values that you can add to your NBA Picks for some potential profits.

Pelicans vs. Grizzlies
Memphis has won all three of their opening games and now they get a chance to continue their hot start to the season, this time at home against Anthony Davis and the Pelicans. The NBA Odds have the Grizzlies as -4 ½ favorites, with a total of 188 ½, however early line movement may be giving us a tip for this game. The line opened a half point higher than this and quickly dropped from +5 to +4 1/2. There are even a few books that have already dropped the spread to -4. This indicates to me that the sharps might be favoring the road dogs here, and while it will be close, I too think the Pellies can cover here. As long as they play well like they have played in their first two games, the Pelicans should keep this game close. Memphis is only 1-3-1 ATS in their last five home games, while the Pelicans are 4-1 ATS following a SU loss.

My Pick: Pelicans +4 ½

Kings vs. Nuggets
The Kings had am impressive win yesterday afternoon against the Clippers in LA, and now the Kings head out on the road to play the Nuggets in Denver. The NBA Odds have the Nuggets as -7 favorites with a total of 202, and while I am really tempted to take points with the Kings after their impressive win, I think the total may be a bit safer of a wager. Coming off of the early-season back to back, the Kings will likely not brig their best defensive game. Plus even though it’s early, the back to back in the altitude of Denver won’t be forgiving. It should be a fast paced and up and down type of contest, and if that’s the case this total is way too low. The over is 4-1 for the Nuggets following a SU loss, and after losing against a depleted Thunder team, the Nuggets will want to put up a good showing here. While there aren’t too many trends favoring the over for the Kings, look for them to give up as many points as they score here.

My Pick: OVER 202

Jazz vs. Clippers
One of the late games tonight is those Clippers heading into Salt Lake City to play the Jazz. The NBA Odds have the Clippers as -8 ½ favorites tonight off the back to back, with a total of 205. After their loss yesterday to the Kings at home, the Clippers are going to take their frustrations out on the Jazz, and I think it leads to a cover here for LA. Although they did play yesterday, the game was early in the afternoon and at home, as this game is. Even though they have not played well ATS at home recently, I still think this spread is a touch too low. The Jazz are only 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 games dating back to last season, and they are only 6-14-2 ATS in their last 22 games as an underdog. For the last of my free NBA picks, I am going to lay the points with the Clippers, as they pull off the bounce back performance.

My Pick: Clippers -8 ½
