The Brooklyn Nets play host to the Orlando Magic this Tuesday. With anticipation creeping up where are you most likely to place your cash for your NBA picks?

The Magic are still dealing with some very important injuries, and it has really affected their upside on both ends of the floor. The NBA Odds for this game tonight have the Nets as -9 ½ favorites with a total of 193 ½, and even though they played yesterday afternoon, the Nets are still quite dangerous as nearly double-digit favorites.

Injuries key

Nikola Vucevic will miss his 8th consecutive game with a concussion, and this once again leaves the Magic’s defense out to dry. Against a resurgent team like the Nets that just got Deron Williams back, it is going to be very hard for the Magic to stop the Nets this evening. With a 6’8 power forward playing center for Orlando, the Nets should roll inside tonight even without Brook Lopez. Kevin Garnett is starting to play better, and Andray Blatche has been really playing well off the bench. Both should dominate the boards tonight in Brooklyn.

The Nets are obviously much different from the team that lost to the Magic 107-86 back in early November. Sure they have lost Lopez since then, but Orlando is not a team that can beat the Nets on the perimeter. Aaron Afflalo and Tobias Harris will likely be shut down by Joe Johnson and Paul Pierce, and on the flip side, the Magic won’t be stopping anyone.

Tuesday NBA Picks of the Day

The Sharp Pick

Without Vucevic, the Magic’s defense has fallen apart to the point that bad offensive teams have been scoring well on them. Vucevic is Orlando’s only plus defender, and without him, Orlando will continue to give up a ton of points. In their last ten games, the Magic have given up 107 points per game, and tonight against the resurgent Nets, I doubt that improves.

The Nets have been stepping it up on defense recently as well. At the start of the season when these two played one another the first time, the defense from Brooklyn was laughable. However their recent winning can definitely be attributed to their defense. In their last ten games, the Nets have only given up 95 points per game. In those ten games, they are 7-3 SU overall and 4-0 SU when playing at home in that stretch.

Even though at first glance, the Magic’s road ATS record doesn’t seem too bad, a second look will state otherwise. Mostly because of no Vucevic, the Magic have lost their last six road games ATS.

With Williams returning to the lineup, it gives the Nets another slasher and facilitator in their offense, and despite their lack of frontcourt depth, a team like the Magic stands no chance tonight. The Nets should easily cover -9 ½ despite having to play yesterday. Brooklyn has been killing it at home recently as well. The Nets have won and covered their last five home games in a row, and those were without Williams available.

The Magic will be left to be a jump shooting team once again, and without their prized big man, their already bad rebounding will bottom out again tonight, giving the Nets a blowout victory for our NBA picks.
