Orlando is dealing with some injuries, and the NBA odds makers have opened Miami as a -13 favorite, with a total of 198 ½.
Obviously most seem to think that Miami will get win number 27, but will they have enough to cover the spread coming off their back to back win last night. Where do we believe that the best value lies for our sports picks tonight?
I know I can’t touch the game spread in this one for a couple of reasons, but the main one being that there are two players that could miss the game. For Miami, Dwyane Wade sat out the win against the Bobcats last night, and he seems questionable at best tonight against Orlando. Without Wade, this could be the straw that breaks the camels’ back. However Orlando is dealing with a big injury as well.
Nikola Vucevic is dealing with a concussion right now, and his status for the game tonight against Miami is iffy at best. It was reported he was sick, and then the Magic came out and said he has a mild concussion. Either way, those 12 points and 12 rebounds per game are going to be tough to replace if he misses. Vucevic missed morning shoot around, and he seems almost doubtful to suit up tonight, as he has to go through the league concussion protocol.
So with the possibility of both guys missing, I’m siding with the first half spread in this one favoring Orlando.
At +7 for the first half, I think we are getting some nice value here for our NBA picks tonight. Miami playing last night might make them come out slow, and with the possibility of missing Wade as well, I think the Magic will be able to hang on in the first half at home tonight. Miami has been a slow starter all season, and I think they won’t turn it on until the second half tonight, making the Magic on the first half spread really good value. I think they will keep the game close through the first half.
