The Golden State Warriors have bounced back from their opening season game one loss to win two straight games. Today they travel to Portland, a team which battled them hard in the playoffs. NBA odds have come out with Golden State as a slight road favorite but can Portland give the Warriors another loss?

Golden State Warriors

Golden State is averaging 109.3 points per game but allowing 114.3 per game on average in their first three games of the year. Of course, Golden State is going to go through some growing pains as they get acclimated to their new roster of players including Kevin Durant. Sooner or later they are going to turn the corner and probably going to start a really solid winning streak, but tonight I believe is a tough spot for them. After losing to San Antonio, Golden State went on to win their next two in unimpressive fashion beating the lowly Pelicans by eight, and then the not much better Phoenix Suns by six. They're going to be able to score tonight but the main issue will be the fact that their defense is not up to par right now. What has made them great over the past couple of years is not only their outstanding outside shooting but an underrated tenacious defense. Until they bring that back to the table they are probably a good team to fade.

 Portland Trail Blazers

Portland is averaging 111.3 points per game while allowing 110.3 per game so far this season. Like the Warriors, they come into this game 2-1 losing at home to the Los Angeles Clippers two games ago. They were able to scrap out a win in Denver taking the Nuggets to overtime, although they were a bit fortunate Denver wasn't able to hit a couple key free throws at the end. Last season they pretty much got owned by the Golden State Warriors losing to them seven out of the nine times they played, which includes the playoffs. However, in their four opportunities to play the Warriors at home Portland won two of those contests and lost the other two by 20, a game Portland shot just 39%, and seven, which was an overtime game. There is all the reason in the world to believe this Portland team can win this game tonight so I will grab the points.

Oddsmakers have come out making Portland a +5 underdog like at Bookmaker, now offering 50% free play bonus. Although I'm not super high on Portland this season, they are good enough to hang in and possibly win this game, so take that into account for your NBA picks.
