The Knicks actually recently won seven games in a row against the NBA odds, and while they've struggled this week, they might still be a good choice as a home dog Sunday against Houston.

Rockets-Knicks Betting Odds
Some parts of Sunday's NBA odds market opened New York at -1 for this game, other parts opened Houston at -1. As of this writing most books were settling on the Rockets as one-point favorites.

Also, the total on this game opened at anywhere from 199.5 to 201; in the early betting it seemed to settle at right around 200.

The Match-Up
New York (8-9 SU, 10-7 ATS) has lost three games in a row, most recently falling at home to Miami Friday night 97-78. The Knicks only trailed the Heat by one point at the half, then scored just 29 points over the last two quarters, whiffing on the spread as two-point home dogs.

On the night New York shot just 38 percent from the floor, and committed 24 fouls, resulting in a 13-point Miami advantage from the free-throw line.

Wednesday the Knicks lost at Orlando 100-91, and Monday they lost at the Heat 95-78. So since a 7-0 ATS run New York has lost three straight ATS.

Houston (6-10 SU, 3-13 ATS) just snapped a three-game losing streak with a 116-114 victory over winless Philadelphia Friday night. The Rockets led the Sixers by 16 points late in the third quarter, fell down by seven midway through the fourth, but finished with a 19-10 run to avoid the embarrassment of becoming Philly's first victim of this season.

On the night Houston shot 52 percent from the field, and outrebounded the Sixers 57-37, but allowed Philly to shoot 48 percent, committed 23 turnovers and failed to cover as an 11-point favorite.

Wednesday the Rockets lost at home to Memphis 102-93; prior to that they lost to these Knicks 107-102; and just before that they lost at the Grizzlies 96-84. Houston is now 2-3 SU and 0-5 ATS since canning Coach McHale, and has also lost nine games in a row ATS.

Rockets-Knicks Recent History
Houston had beaten New York 11 times in a row, but the Knicks just beat the Rockets eight days ago down at the Toyota Center 107-102. That game was close throughout, as neither team led by more than seven points. In the end Houston missed a couple of shots, and New York put the game away at the free-throw line.

The Knicks won that game outright as five-point dogs on the road.

Both teams shot just 43 percent from the floor that night, but both were hot from 3-point land, combining to hit 24 of 53 shots from beyond the arc, sending that game OVER its total of 202.

Last season the Rockets beat New York twice, by scores of 91-86 and 120-96.

Rockets-Knicks Totals Trends
Houston is 9-7 on the UNDERS this season, even though Rockets games have averaged 208 points.

New York is 11-5 on the UNDERS, as Knicks games have averaged 194 points.

New York is playing better defense than Houston, doing a better job on the boards, taking better care of the ball and shooting better from the line. We like the Knicks here, for the win. Also, these teams played an OVER last week, but had to shoot the hell out of the 3 to do it. In thinking they can't do it again, with our NBA Picks we'll take the UNDER.
