The NBA is back tonight with three games and, just like the NHL after the break, the first NBA picks can be tricky. We just don't know the mindset of the players yet.

Today's NBA picks of props reflect this, going with proven theories or previous outcomes. Better to go with established principles with a degree of certainty rather than play strong hunches which might otherwise work having relatable information on recent past performances versus the NBA odds. Time to get the ball rolling in the second portion of schedule.

Jazz vs. Wizards - First Half Totals Line Over/Under 95.5
A Washington D.C. snow storm wiped this game out last month and it was rescheduled for today, placing both teams in bind immediately to start remainder of season. Utah leaves Washington to play at home tomorrow and on to Portland Sunday, making a coast to coast trip in four days playing three times. The Wizards have to play the dreaded old school NBA slate which used to pop up of three games in three days. Don't kid yourself, the players have no interest in this game to start. They later will care about the outcome, however, cannot ignore the Jazz are 21-3 UNDER the first half total when playing against a team with a losing record after 41 games into the season since last year.

Spurs vs. Clippers - First Half Spread 2.5 Points
San Antonio picks up remaining - Rodeo Trip - with six away games starting in Los Angeles. The Spurs won the first two on this excursion at Miami by 18 and tight two-point non-cover at Orlando. Coach Gregg Popovich has been dealing with injury issues with his older stars but has been able to keep winning despite a thinner bench. The Clippers are home after playing nine of past dozen on the road and seven of next eight are at the Staples Center. Los Angeles opens with monster games against the Spurs and Golden State Saturday. San Antonio is always rugged with rest and their focus in remarkable to start road trips and they are 16-6 ATS against the first half line as a road favorite this season, winning by 8.4 points a contest.

Bulls vs. Cavaliers- Kyrie Irving Over/Under 20.5 Points (-110)
With Cleveland having lost twice to Chicago already this season and rather battered because of injuries, expect the Cavaliers to want to make statement. This would suggest LeBron James and Kyrie Irving in particular will strive to have strong games. My preference is to take Irving, who has gotten into a good flow in averaging 24.4 points a game in his last 10 games and this month he has jumped all the way to 27.7 PPG as a catalyst.

Free NBA Pick: -Irving Over 20.5 Points
Best Line Offered: at 5Dimes

Spurs vs. Clippers- LaMarcus Aldridge Over/Under 10 Rebounds and Blocks (-115)
It has been frequently written Aldridge's numbers a down quite a bit since joining San Antonio, but you have not heard a word out of him, because the reason he came to the Spurs was the chance to play for championships, not win scoring or rebounding titles. First impression was the San Antonio big man would reach this figure, wanting to compete with the Clippers front line, however, in last 12 games, Aldridge is 10-1-1 UNDER on this combination and he is not going to get any cheap rebounds with DeAndre Jordan hanging around the glass.

Free NBA Pick: -Aldridge Under 10 Rebounds and Blocks
Best Line Offered: at BetCRIS
