The NBA card for Wednesday night is almost as big as it gets, and with almost every team in action tonight, there is value all over the NBA Odds boards. One of those games is the Celtics entering Atlanta to play the Hawks, who are coming off a loss just last night.

Atlanta Motored On The Road
The Pistons of all teams beat the Hawks for the second time in a row last night, and it dropped Atlanta in the standings in the East. Their magic number is still three, and with the Knicks playing tonight and only down 1 ½ games, the Hawks really need a win here.

The NBA Odds have the Hawks as solid -7 favorites against the C’s tonight, with a total of 205. While the spread does look inviting, I can’t trust either of these teams ATS. I tried trusting the Hawks last night, but that turned out biting me. However at 205, the total looks like a great value considering neither one of these teams play any defense.

The Celtics are currently on a long eight game losing streak SU, and during that streak, teams have not only been blowing out Boston, but they have been scoring almost at will against them. In those last eight games, the Celtics have given up almost 108 points per game, and with Atlanta motivated to get a win, they should be able to score well into the 100s against Boston. The Celtics lack size down low like the Hawks, so on the surface, it seems like this could be an up and down game tonight for our basketball picks.

The Sharp Pick
The Hawks are 11-9 cashing the over on the second night of a back to back this season, and tonight at this point in the long season, the Hawks will be pretty tired. That should lead to their defense giving up at least some points to the Celtics, and with Boston’s defense not even showing up recently, 205 is too low for these teams.

The last time they met a little over a month ago, the final score was 115-104, with the total flying over. In fact four of the last six times these two have played one another, the total has gone over, and I see it happening again.

Boston has cashed the over in five of their last six games overall, and four of their last five road games. In fact in their last 21 games, the Celtics have cashed the over at 14-7. This of course is mainly due to their lack of defense, but they can score against certain teams. In four of their last six games overall, the C’s have scored over 100 points, and in a game like tonight’s, even Atlanta’s will to make the playoffs won’t stop the Celtics from scoring at least 100 tonight on the road.

In five of Boston’s last seven road games, they have either scored 100 or more, or they have given up 100+. With no interior play to speak of for either team, I expect an up and down game tonight, with plenty of three balls, and plenty of layups at an uncontested rim.
