Free NBA Picks: Cavs Adjustments Bring Different Monster vs Toronto

With a big win on Saturday the Toronto Raptors have some new life versus the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference finals. What do the NBA Odds have to offer?

Toronto Raptors
The Cavs still lead 2-1 and odds have come out making them a decent road favorite for this important game two. Can Toronto even the series? In game three the Raptors shot 46% from the floor and almost 39% from distance and out-rebounded the Cavs 57-43. Bismack Biyombo was the difference maker grabbing 26 boards in an amazing performance and DeRozen went for 32 points. They were a lot better defensively as well holding the Cavs to some low numbers both percentage wise and attempts, but tonight I expect Cleveland to make some adjustments

Probably the most outstanding aspect of their defense was holding Cleveland to just 20 points in the paints after the Cavs had absolutely dominated that area in games one and two. This was an all-around great performance by the Raptors but it will be very difficult for them to repeat this type of game two times in a row against a Cleveland team that has the talent to counterpunch them.

As well, I don’t expect Toronto to have as much dominance in the paint area and for the aforementioned Biyombo to surprise the Cavs again with a career like performance. Toronto will play hard again but the Cavs will get up on them and start to pull away in the second half.

Cleveland Cavaliers
In game three the Cavs shot just 35% from the floor and 34% from distance while getting up only 79 attempts on the night. The amount of attempts were fine for them at home where they were really efficient for games one and two but for game four I look for them to push the tempo as much as possible to not get bogged down.

After all the hype surrounding their playoff record it was only a matter of time until they got beat and it seemed to me they set themselves up for that type of game they played the other night, just poor all the way around. They probably were not expecting for Toronto to do such a great job in the paint area but if anything this now puts them in a good spot to watch some tape and make some adjustments on both sides of the ball.

Defensively they were ok but they got into no rhythm on the offensive side and just kind looked out of sync most of the night. All that being said I expect them to come out and dominate game four by being more active defensively, only forcing 10 turnovers in game three, and being simply more efficient offensively across the board. This is too good a team to have two poor games in a row.

The NBA odds have come out making Cleveland a -5.5 favorite like at Pinnacle Sports -108. For my NBA pick I am going to back Cleveland in this game four to bounce back from a lackluster game three. Toronto played with a lot of heart in that game but tonight should play out differently.
