NBA Pick: Knicks -2.5
Best Line Offered: at TheGreek

Utah Jazz (18-23 SU, 21-18-2 ATS)
The Jazz battled the Hornets tooth and nail but they couldn’t stop Kemba Walker from dropping a franchise record of 52 points and ultimately fell in double overtime to Charlotte. It was a game effort by Utah who flew into Charlotte fresh off a double digit win over the Lakers and was installed as 3 ½ point road underdogs by the NBA odds makers. Lost in the shadow of Walker’s immense performance was Utah’s Gordon Hayward who notched 36 points of his own including six from beyond the arc. The Jazz hauled in 49 rebounds and shot 42.3 percent from the field but could not overcome the Hornets’ snipers who connected on 51.9 percent of their three-point shots making 14 in total.

After consecutive victories over the Heat and Lakers the Jazz have lost three of their last four games. Despite surpassing the century mark in their last three contests Utah is ranked just 25th in scoring, averaging 97.1 points per game while their defense has remained stout throughout the season as they allow an average of only 97.2 PPG which ranks them 5th in the league. Fifth-year man Gordon Hayward has come alive this season scoring an average of 19.6 PPG which dwarfs his 14.1 per game career average. Big man Rudy Gobert is leading the team with 10.3 rebounds per game and since missing all of December with an MCL strain has recorded double-doubles in his last two games.

New York Knicks (21-22 SU, 25-18 ATS)
Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony had been sidelined for two games with a sprained ankle but had he not returned to tip off against the woeful Philadelphia 76’ers on Monday night New York would likely be in the midst of a three game losing streak after dropping their previous two to Brooklyn and Memphis without the services of “Melo”. Anthony was certainly not sharp, going 7-of-28 from the field, but he was clutch as he hit a game tying three-pointer with only three seconds remaining in regulation to send the game into overtime.

While Carmelo finished with 19 points it was veteran shooting guard Arron Afflalo who led the Knick in scoring with 25 on 8-of-17 shooting from the field. The Knicks have had their scoring woes this season averaging 99.3 points per game but their defense has held opponents to a respectable 100.1 PPG good for 11th in the league. After covering six games in a row New York has failed to cover in their last three. Center Kevin Seraphin’s status for tonight’s game is uncertain with bruised ribs that kept him out of Monday’s game against Philadelphia.

Betting Analysis
This is a bit of a revenge game for the Knicks who bowed to the Jazz in Utah earlier this season by the score of 106-85 and have won their last three straight up over the Knicks while covering in two of those victories. Nevertheless, New York has won their last five home tilts straight up, going 4-1 ATS, while Utah is 4-14-3 ATS in the team’s last 21 Wednesday games and 1-7 ATS in their last eight road games. The Jazz are 1-9 against the number in the last 10 meetings in New York and 6-14 straight up and 9-11 ATS on the road this season.

Carmelo Anthony’s health will determine just how well the Knicks will fare but he has had two days off and should be okay to do his thing against the Jazz tonight in front of the fan friendlies. Take Knicks as your NBA pick tonight.
