The Kings and the Knicks are set to finalize the Sunday slate of NBA Odds with what I’m calling the Battle of Who Can Suck Less. The Odds have the Kings as -3 road favorites in this one.

Injury Question Marks
The big things coming into this one are the injuries for both clubs, and it’s going to make big waves depending on who can play and who cannot. Rajon Rondo looks like he is good to go tonight after dealing with several injuries over the last few weeks. However, Willie Caulie-Stein and Omri Casspi are both questionable for tonight’s game, and if they can’t go tonight Marco Belinelli and Rudy Gay will be quite busy.

The Knicks are also dealing with some injuries as well. Carmelo Anthony was dealing with migraine headaches in their game last night, but he was able to finish the game despite dealing with headaches. Jose Calderon was also injured last night with an ankle sprain, but he still played about 24 minutes with the injury. There has been no word on either player’s status for tonight’s game, but if Anthony’s headaches have gotten worse, and Calderon’s ankle has swelled, both might be in danger of missing tonight’s game.

That could spell bad news for a Knicks team that has really struggled to score the ball recently. The Knicks have averaged less than 90 points per game in their last four games, and even though they were on the tail end of a long road trip, that is still a concerning statistic for a team that is prone to offensive slumps.

The Kings’ defense should help the Knicks get above the 90-point mark tonight, but if Anthony and Calderon are late scratched to tonight’s game, the Kings are going to be an excellent value at -3 favorites on the road in Madison Square Garden.

The Sharp Pick
The problem for the Kings even if those players are out tonight is their horrible record as road favorites. The Kings are only 2-5 against the NBA odds boards this season when playing as road favorites, so while they might be a good play tonight, I am only willing to label it a one or two unit play.

Also, it will make it a good hedge against if Anthony and/or Calderon are able to play tonight. However, the -3 number the Kings are getting right now is great if those two are missing tonight. DeMarcus Cousins is going to dominate the Knicks tonight even though Robin Lopez is a solid defender, and while Rondo may still be a little banged up, he too is going to be very tough for the Knicks to defend tonight. If Gay shows up and is able to shoot a solid percentage from the floor, the Kings should be a nice play tonight.

The Kings have won three straight games against the Knicks over the last two seasons, and those first two were without Rondo. Now with Rondo running the offense, even though the Kings’ point guard has lacked a lot of consistency this season shooting the ball, he is definitely an upgrade for the club. The Kings are 4-2-1 ATS in their last seven road games though, so while it’s not a great play, it’s good enough to put a speculative one or two unit play on, in hopes that the Knicks are a little more banged up than is out in the news right now. Back the kings as your NBA picks in tonight's game.
