Let’s take a look at what the NBA odds makers are hanging on this Nets vs. Celtics game and cash in our NBA picks on Friday night. Check inside for a full betting preview.

Brooklyn Nets (2-10 SU, 6-6 ATS)
The Nets have a grand total of two wins this season but those who have backed them in their NBA picks recently understand that a straight up loss can still mean money in your pocket. The Nets have covered their last five consecutive games despite going 2-3 straight up over that span. In their last contest Wednesday night the Nets lost a 116-111 decision to the Hornets but covered what the NBA odds makers were hanging as 6½ point road dogs.

The Nets currently rank 28th in points scored averaging an anemic 95.7 points per game while allowing over 103 points per contest. Their offense has been ineffectual this season, but it should be noted that over the course of their last five games, in which they covered each and every game, the Nets have averaged 103 points. Had they been able to muster that kind of scoring throughout the season, you can be rest assured their record would be vastly improved from what it is today.

The big man in the middle Brook Lopez has been the go-to-guy this season for Brooklyn. He leads the team in points with 19.9 per game, 2.4 blocks/game and is the top rebounder with 8.3 per contest. Tuesday night Lopez scored a game-high 24 points (11-21 FG, 2-4 FT) and grabbed 10 boards along with three blocked shots over 35 minutes of play in Tuesday's 90-88 win over the Atlanta Hawks. The following evening Lopez was back at it with 23 points in a losing effort to the Charlotte Hornets.

Boston Celtics (6-5 SU, 6-5 ATS)
If you jumped on the Celtics bandwagon after their three straight wins and covers heading into their tilt with Dallas, then you were one game too late if you included Boston in your NBA picks on Wednesday night. The Mavs rallied from 18 points down to take a 106-102 win out of Boston and back to Dallas where they welcome the Utah Jazz tonight. Isiah Thomas led the Celtics with 19 points while forward Jared Sullinger bucketed 18 points and grabbed 12 boards. Avery Bradley also scored 18 as Boston watched their big lead, as well as their three-game winning streak, halted. Bradley has been weaned back into the Celtics lineup after coming off a calf injury.

NBA Pick
The Celtics are averaging a respectable 102.5 points per game good for 9th in the league but it is their tenacious defense that has caught the attention of teams throughout the league. The Green is allowing just 96.8 points per game, which makes them the 6th best defensive club in the NBA, and that is what makes this a good spot to back the home chalk.

In their last two meetings, both last season, the Celtics were five-point underdogs in Brooklyn and not only covered the number but won those contests outright by scores of 89-81 and 110-91. The Green just matches up very well against a team that has only one offensive weapon (Brook Lopez) and plays at such a frenetic pace that I believe the Nets will be gasping as the fourth quarter approaches. The Celtics score enough to make laying the lumber palatable because their defense is so intense. I look for Boston to win this one by double digits.

Free NBA Pick: Celtics -8 ½ at Pinnacle

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":2882639, "sportsbooksIds":[1096,19,93,92,238,349], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]

<var>Looking for More NBA Picks for Tonight?
