After poorly shooting the three in the first game of this series, the Rockets have been red-hot from deep over their last two games. After winning Game 3, will the Rockets’ outside shooting stay hot in Game 4, or will Golden State stifle them to take a commanding series lead?

Not only that, but overall for the playoffs, the Rockets have a 118.3 offensive rating in the second quarter.

The Warriors have not been as good in the second quarter, but that could very well change in Game 4. The Dubs and Rockets were two of the best second quarter offensive teams in the league during the regular season and we could see more of that in Game 4.

For instance, the average combined second quarter score has been 57.7 points in this series and now we’re looking at a total of 55 ½ for Game 4. Will anything change, or is the over a trap wager?

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

G A M E 🚀 F O U R

📍 @ToyotaCenter
📅 TONIGHT!
🏀 8:30PM Tip-off

🎟 https://t.co/6hp6y9Wkpv#RunAsOne | #NBAPlayoffs pic.twitter.com/SlJV4hP0hI
— Houston Rockets (@HoustonRockets) May 6, 2019
\n\n"}[/]

The Sharp Pick

I think the second quarter scoring stays as is. The Warriors are averaging over 25 possessions in the second quarter during the entire playoffs and during that time they are scoring 121 points per 100 possessions. That averages out to more than 30 points per second quarter.

Sure, they got to play the Clippers which skewed their numbers, but even over their last three second quarters, the Warriors have an offensive rating of 110, which isn’t bad at all.

The discrepancies of the second quarter has to be cleaned up for Golden State and I think they start on Monday. This spread is too close to play around coin flipping on who will win each quarter or half. In my opinion, we can pick our spots based on this data and make a reasonably educated guess that the Rockets will keep scoring a lot of second quarter points.

So, if the Warriors can join them on the road, I like the over here. The scoring has only increased as this series gets deeper. I think points in the high 20s is very attainable in the second quarter of Game 4.

Second Quarter Prediction: Warriors 27 – Rockets 29
