In a battle between two MVP candidates, the Pelicans and Raptors square off Monday night north of the border. The NBA Odds for this one are ripe for the picking, so let’s pick up another win to bump our bankrolls northward.

Jordan’s NBA Picks: 5-4

New Orleans (6-6 SU & 5-7 ATS) at Toronto (12-1 SU & 7-5-1 ATS)

Monday, 7:30 p.m, EST (NBA TV)

Free NBA Pick: Raptors ATS

Best Line Offered: BetOnline

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3569895, "sportsbooksIds":[1096,999991,93,19,238], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]

The Raptors have the best record in the NBA heading into Monday night’s big slate of NBA Picks. Can we trust them to cover, or will Anthony Davis and company spoil the Raptors impressive start to the season with a big road win?

Raptors Pacing East

After the acquisition of Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green, a lot of people thought that the Raptors would be good, but also questioned whether they would be as good as the Celtics, or even the Sixers. With the Sixers’ acquisition of Jimmy Butler, the landscape in the East is changing, but the Raptors still seem like the cream of the crop.

They own one of the best home court advantages of any NBA team with the travel required to get to Canada, and they also have the deepest team in the Eastern Conference. The Raptors have 11-to-12 rotation-worthy players to go with Leonard, and their young draft picks like Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby have been giving them a ton of boost on the defensive end of the court.

That defense will be put on full display Monday against Anthony Davis. Depending on the status of Nikola Mirotic, who missed Saturday’s game, the Pelicans have a lot of big men the Raptors will need to keep track of.

However, with Serge Ibaka still playing well to go with Siakan and Anunoby, the Raptors have a lot of guys they can throw at Davis. Leonard may even spend some time guarding the Pelicans’ super star.

However, outside of Davis, the Raptors have the defense to slow down the rest of the Pelicans. If Mirotic misses, it shrinks the floor defensively for the Raptors, and they might even be able to get away with doubling Davis any time he gets the ball. If Davis can’t get off, it doesn’t matter how many points the rest of the Pelicans will have.

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

Can we expect the Raptors' hot start to last through the season? ;/a> ;/a>
— The Crossover (@TheCrossover) November 10, 2018
\n\n"}[/]

The Sharp Pick

New Orleans is also only 0-2 ATS this season in non-conference games against the East. They are only 2-4 ATS on the road this season, so if they are missing pieces on Monday night, it could be a long game for them.

The Pelicans are getting close to having Elfrid Payton back, which should help them on both ends of the court. That being said, if Payton and Mirotic miss, it’s a great night to lay the points with Toronto.

The Pelicans score about five points less per 100 possessions when Mirotic is off the court, and as good as Julius Randle has been this season, he and Davis paired next to one another could hurt them more than help them against the Raptors.

The Raptors are only 4-3 ATS at home this season and they are 2-3-1 ATS in games against the West, but if the Pelicans are still missing parts of their key contributors, the Raptors should have little problem covering the spread.
