The Pacers are not having a good time right now. They have lost three games in a row and they are double-digit underdogs Thursday against the Warriors.

The Pacers are in the midst of the toughest stretch of their season and it’s not going great. That will likely continue on Thursday, but the total has some intriguing value on the first half and full game NBA Odds.

Warriors’ Pace And Defense

Golden State’s claim to fame over the last couple of seasons has not been their offense. The addition of Kevin Durant last year makes their offense virtually unstoppable, but the impressive part of their game was their defense. They were a top three defense over the last two seasons, but this year has been anything but.

Even with DeMarcus Cousins and now the addition of Andrew Bogut, teams have been able to exploit the Dubs at times this season and the Pacers might have a chance to do that.

Even missing their bets player, the Pacers are still a scrappy team. They may not have a ton of offensive upside, but they could give up a good amount of points in this one if their shots aren’t falling on the other end.

This could be especially noticeable in the first half of this one. We have been having some success with first half plays over the last few nights and this is another opportunity to make some cash on a line that should be higher.

Golden State has struggled in the first half of their home games since the All Star Break and while I’m not too concerned about their offensive struggles, we can make some money because of their defensive issues. Golden State is allowing nearly 111 points per 100 possessions in the first halves of their five home games since the break and that isn’t far from their season-long home average 108.7 points allowed per 100 possessions in the first half.

Indiana’s road defense in the first half hasn’t been much better. On this current road trip, they are allowing just under 56 points in the first half and on the road against Western Conference opponents this season, Indiana is allowing 109 points per 100 possessions in the first halves of those 13 games.

The Sharp Pick

While the Pacers don’t have a ton of upside offensively, they do come into this one with their backs against the wall and in need of a win. The Warriors’ soft defense also makes for a great first half over opportunity in this one.

I think Indiana is good for at least 54 or 55 first half points in this one, especially if they are unable to dictate the pace. Golden State has been playing exceptionally fast during the first halves of their home games recently, with a pace greater than 105 possessions per 48 minutes.

If the pace is closer to the Warriors’ liking to start this game, I see both teams getting closer to 60 points than 50. We could use some Stephen Curry half-court buzzer-beaters in the first two quarters.

First Half Score Prediction: Pacers 55 – Warriors 61
