Brooklyn has surprised teams on a nightly basis with their fast pace and much tougher play. Can they do the unthinkable and upset Giannis Antetokounmpo and Milwaukee on Monday night?

Jordan’s 2018-19 NBA picks record: 35-17

Milwaukee (38-13 SU, 29-19-3 ATS) at Brooklyn (28-26 SU, 30-24 ATS)

Monday, 7:30 p.m. ET (NBA-TV)

Free NBA Pick: 'Over'

Best Line Offered: BetOnline

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3569484, "sportsbooksIds":[1096,999991,93,19,999996], "LineTypeId":3, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]

The Bucks have won nine of their last 10 games straight-up and they are 5-1 SU on the road during that stretch. As they conclude the fifth game of their current road trip, will they out-class the Nets on Monday night, or will Brooklyn sneak in to cover the spread?

Bucks’ Efficient Offense

Milwaukee’s offense has been among the most efficient in the NBA. They rank fourth in the league in offensive rating, averaging 113.3 points per 100 possessions, and they have the league’s second-best effective field-goal percentage at 55.5%.

They have done this with Mike Budenholzer’s offense of threes and layups. Call it the analytics method of playing basketball, because with Giannis Antetokounmpo breaking down defense and getting to the basket, nearly every team defending Milwaukee has to make a choice: Will they let the Bucks kill them inside, or with wide-open threes after the Greek Freak has broken down the defense?

The Nets are going to have to live with this reality as well. Even with a healthy Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, who will be key in this game trying to guard Antetokounmpo, the Nets are still going to have to assume that the Bucks will break down their defense.

So, there is a good chance the Nets’ defense could break down early in this one. Both of these teams play pretty fast and if Milwaukee is able to dictate their pace of play with Antetokounmpo leading a ton of fast breaks, there is little chance of keeping the Bucks out of the 115- to 120-point range.

The Bucks don’t lose too much on either end of the floor when they head out on the road. They still have an effective field-goal percentage of more than 55 percent on the road and in their last game against Brooklyn, in late December, they put all of this on display by dropping 129 points on the Nets.

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

The @Bucks' defense ranks first in the NBA (allowing just 102 points per 100 possessions) and their offense ranks second in the NBA (scoring 111.2 points per 100 possessions). No other team is ranked top-five in both categories. pic.twitter.com/IL19u3uIQe
— Alex Kennedy (@AlexKennedyNBA) January 26, 2019
\n\n"}[/]

The Sharp Pick

I’m expecting a similar style game for the Nets this time in their building. Brooklyn’s offensive rating improves three full points when they play at home this season and combined with a fast-paced and efficient Bucks offense, this total is a little low for the style of game that could be played Monday at Barclays Center.

Eric Bledsoe is a little banged up for the Bucks after missing Saturday’s game against the Wizards. He was probable heading into the game, but the team decided it was best to hold him out of a winnable game to give him extra rest on the long road trip. I’m assuming Bledsoe will be fine for Monday’s game after three full days off since his last game. The team said he has been dealing with soreness for a while.

Even if Bledsoe has to miss another game, the "over" should be fine for this one. I could see both teams scoring well more than 110, with the Bucks threatening 120 points or more.

Milwaukee has been much better at cashing the "under" lately, but against teams with bad defenses that also play above the league average in pace, I see them putting up plenty of points on Monday.

Final score prediction: Bucks 122, Nets 114
