For my NBA pick, we head to New York where the Knicks take on the Charlotte Hornets. This line right now is very interesting because the Hornets are a slight favorite.

You can get good value on the Hornets at a pick at Bookmaker. For my game selection of the day I'm going to back Charlotte to go ahead and win this game against the Knicks.

Charlotte Hornets
Charlotte comes into this game averaging 101.4 points per game, shooting 44.2% in the field, and 35.9% from beyond the arc. Those are all pretty solid numbers and they have been playing very well since opening the season on three straight losses. The line still seems interesting to me but what I do like is the fact that Al Jefferson only scored four points last time against New York, and I don't expect that to happen again. I wasn't so sure about this team at the beginning of the year but it seems like they have found an identity and have some pretty nice pieces to work with. Nicolas Batum has been a nice surprise averaging 17.7 points per game.

Defensively Charlotte is allowing 99.2 points per game, 45.5% shooting from the field, and 34.1% from beyond the arc. They have been decent defensively and are ranked 11th in the league in points per game. Their interior play on the defensive end has been solid as they allow 38.4 points per game in the paint which ranks fourth in the NBA.

New York Knicks
New York is averaging 98.5 points per game, 42.1% shooting, and 31% shooting from beyond the arc. Everybody knows Carmelo Anthony but we are all a bit surprised at the rapid progression of Kristaps Porzingas. Although they seem to have improved this year, which isn't saying much when looking at last year, they are still one of the least efficient teams offensively in the NBA.

Defensively New York is allowing 98.5 points per game, 42.7% shooting from the field, and 30.8% shooting from beyond the arc. They have been excellent in guarding the perimeter ranking fourth in opponent three point shooting percentage in the NBA. This is the end of the floor that they have really improved and it should carry them to a much more successful season than last. Along with the percentage they have also only allowed opponents 6.5 three-pointers per game per average which ranks third in the NBA. For the most part defensively they have been solid.

This is basically a line play for me in a game in which I think New York should be favored considering the last matchup. When we break down the statistics Charlotte is just a bit better overall and should continue their winning ways tonight in New York. For one of your NBA picks I suggest taking Charlotte at a pick to beat New York for the second time this season.

NBA Pick: Hornets -1 at 5Dimes

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":2882619, "sportsbooksIds":[1096,19,93,92,238,349], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]
