The Sixers laid an egg in Game 5 and now they face a must-win Game 6 back at home. Can we expect them to show up or lay down in front of the home fans?

Jordan’s NBA Picks: 75-55-1 (Playoffs 21-17-1)

Toronto (65-27 SU & 44-46 ATS) at Philadelphia (57-35 SU & 44-48 ATS)

Thursday, 8:00 PM EST, ESPN

Free NBA Pick: 1H Under

Best Line Offered: Bovada

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3782779, "sportsbooksIds":[999996,1096,93,19,169], "LineTypeId":3, "PeriodTypeId":2}[/]

You can’t lose a playoff game much worse than the Sixers did in Game 5. It was an absolute disgrace, so figuring out how they’ll play back at home in Game 6 is somewhat challenging, but also could open us up to some narratives that could affect the betting markets.

Defense Ramped Up

Elimination game defense tends to always be pretty good, especially early in the game. We saw that in the Boston and Milwaukee elimination Game 5 on Wednesday and I think we will see it again in Game 6 of this series.

The Sixers have been much better on both ends of the court when they play at home also, allowing only 102 points per 100 possessions in the first halves of their two home games in this series. They also are giving up just 101.6 points per 100 possessions in the first halves of all five of their home playoff games so far.

So, with that in mind, while the first half total has gone up since it opened, I think we are getting even more value for an under play. I sincerely doubt the Raptors are going to come out and be allowed to walk all over Philly for the second straight game. If that’s the case, expect a lot of boos raining down in the Wells Fargo Center.

The Sharp Pick

Assuming Philadelphia actually comes out and plays defense early in the game, I think we could see a game that ends with both teams right at, or just above 50 points. Out of these five games we have seen four times where one or both of these teams finish below 50 points in a half.

The Sixers are only averaging 51.2 points per first half in this series and if you take away their 64 points in their blowout home win, that drops to 48 points per first half.

Toronto’s defense is going to travel, and it’s encouraging that the Raptors only scored 100 combined points in their first two first halves from Philly. I’m hoping for similar first half results as Game 4 in Philly tonight for Game 6.

First Half Score Prediction: Raptors 52 – 76ers 51
