The Detroit Pistons are coming off of one of the worst blown leads in the NBA this season when they allowed the Los Angeles Clippers to come back from being down 25 point and win a game in Detroit in which the Pistons were outscored 64-36 in the second half.

The only positive was the continued improvement of much-maligned point guard Reggie Jackson. He had a team-high 29 points, seven assists and no turnovers against the Clippers. He's averaging 20 points and 6.6 assists over the last five games. Jackson spent most of the summer rehabbing an ankle injury.

Injuries to two starters haven't slowed down the Denver Nuggets They'll bring a six-game winning streak to Detroit when they play the demoralized Pistons on Monday.

Point guard Jamal Murray sat out his fifth straight game on Saturday with an ankle sprain. Backcourt partner Gary Harris missed back-to-back games over the weekend with a groin injury. Their status for Monday is questionable.

Helping to replace Murray and Harris in the lineup for the Nuggets has been third-year guard Malik Beasley and Monte Morris. Beasley continued a string of strong performances, scoring a team-high 22 points. He's averaging 24.3 points over the past four games and has led the team in scoring the past three.

"Just knocking down a few shots, thanks to my teammates," Beasley said. "A lot of teams are playing up on me now, so still trying to figure out ways to score in this league and defend and get wins. That's the most important thing, especially as a starter."

Monte Morris, a second-round draft selection in 2017, has delivered some stellar outings in place of Murray. He's averaging 18.3 points, 8.3 assists and 6.7 rebounds over the last three games. He notched his first career double-double at Minnesota with 17 points and 10 assists.

The young Nuggets guards are more than enough to give the Pistons trouble at home as they only have a 10-16 mark playing in Detroit. Denver is the smart bet ATS for Monday night action.

Not much was expected of the young Atlanta Hawks and their first-year coach this season. The hopes were higher for the Wizards, who entered the season with four playoff appearances in five years, led by a veteran coach and veteran roster. But as the two teams meet Monday night in Washington, they find themselves in the same spot: on the outside of the Eastern Conference playoff picture.

The Wizards are closer to reaching the playoff goal than the Hawks. Washington is 2 1/2 games out the final playoff spot in the conference but has lost three of the past four games, including a 131-115 decision to Milwaukee at home on Saturday night. They started the season 1-7 and haven't hit .500 at any point this season.

With the Hawks in town, they have a chance to start that playoff push. Atlanta is in 12th place in the conference, five games behind the Wizards. The Wizards are catching the Hawks at an ideal time. They’re on the final game of their seven-game road trip before returning home right as all the Super Bowl traffic clears out of Atlanta.

The Hawks have held their own on the trip, with wins over the Bulls, Clippers, and Suns, but here they’ll be fighting off the Wizards and the jet lag from flying back across the country after their win in Phoenix on Saturday night.

This is one of those games where Washington needs to demoralize Atlanta early and convince them to pack it in before things get tense later in the game. Washington can’t afford to let more winnable games slip through their fingers, especially after last week’s loss to the Cavaliers.

The Wizards are 16-9 ATS at home this season and should be able to take advantage of playing in D.C. over a Hawks team that is simply inferior talent wise. Smart money suggests betting the Wizards ATS.
