As we head into the stretch run of the NBA season, there are several stand-out trends, games, and tips you’ll need to account for this week if you want to remain, or become a profitable NBA bettor.

Busy Week, Tired Legs

As we enter the final seven weeks of the NBA season, the schedule is getting packed. Combined with several injuries to some high profile players and some uncertainty about tanking teams, now is the most difficult and in some cases, the most profitable season. All you have to do is start to take the crowded schedule, injuries, and tanking more into account.

With that in mind, let’s talk about the crowded schedule in particular. After two straight weeks where teams only played two games due to the All Star Break, teams are now faced with one of the biggest weeks of the whole season.

There are 20 teams with four games this week, which is the most since Week 6 of the season way back in late November. It’s also tied with that week as having the most games packed into a Monday-through-Sunday stretch of the season.

However, back in that point in the season, no teams were tanking and almost everyone was still in playoff contention. They were also a lot less tired due to everyone only playing about 15 or so games up until that point.

Now as we enter the 20th week of the season, more than a dozen teams openly are tanking and some are even choosing to use this period to get their players some rest as we head into the final six weeks.

That makes this week a pivotal one for handicapping. A lot of teams could rest players and several more will succumb to the tough schedule challenges. That’s a lot of travel for some of the teams on the road and it’s also a lot of games played on consecutive nights.

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

Which NBA teams have the easiest remaining schedule to close out the 2018-19 season? Which teams have the toughest remaining schedule down the final stretch? Interesting stuff from @FrankUrbina_: https://t.co/8FoERDtF14
— Alex Kennedy (@AlexKennedyNBA) February 21, 2019
\n"}[/]

Back-To-Backs

A total of 17 teams have back-to-backs this week and that will also play its toll this late in the season. We’ve seen some interesting trends this year when it comes to teams playing on the second night of a back-to-back and those might be more amplified this week too.

For instance, the Western Conference in general has not been great playing on no rest. There are only four Western Conference teams that have positive EV playing ATS on the second night of a back-to-back. Those teams are the Denver Nuggets, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, and Minnesota Timberwolves

Also, the Southwest Division has been very bad ATS, as no team is above .500 ATS when playing on no rest and combined they are 20-29 ATS on no rest.

However, the biggest trends have been in total betting on the second night of back-to-backs. For instance, among the teams that are 12 games or more out of the lead in their divisions entering play on Sunday, the under is 51-31-4 cashing the under. It makes sense that bad teams with nothing to play for would fall flat on offense when tired. Look for that to stay the case this week with so many teams having to play on consecutive nights.
