This is the fourth and final time these teams will meet this season. If the first three matchups are an indication, this one could be very high scoring.

The first-half total on the NBA odds board is sitting at 119½, and for good reason. These teams averaged that many combined first-half points in their first three meetings this season, and with both teams playing faster than ever, we could see a similar first half tonight.

The halftime score in their last meeting was 65-62 just a few days ago. By looking at the highlights, you’d think you were watching a track meet and not a basketball game.

Over their past nine games, the Nuggets are giving up 114.7 points per 100 possessions in the first half, and their pace goes up to nearly 105 during those games in the first half. The Lakers’ defense has been solid since the break, but in the first halves of their last nine games they are playing at a pace of 106.8.

These numbers are enough to cash the first-half "over" with your NBA picks tonight. With no defense lately, the Nuggets stand no chance of slowing this suddenly potent Lakers offense.

The Lakers are averaging 114 points per game over their last five, and 58.2 points per first half in those five as well. On the flip side, the Nuggets are scoring an average of almost 65 points per first half in their last five, and it would not surprise me to see them above that tonight.
