Home court advantage plays a major role in MAAC Conference competition. The home team usually get's the benefit of the doubt where the odds makers are concerned and in tonight's case, the 5-9 Manhattan Jaspers are a 2 point betting favorite over the 7-5 Fairfield Stags. The Stags have some confidence coming off of a victory over Iona. I see good value here.

Fairfield Stags (7-5) at Manhattan Jaspers (5-9)

A bettor definitely does have to be careful with MAAC Conference betting as all of these teams are very inconsistent. With that said, Fairfield is the better basketball squad and they are coming into this game off of an impressive 93-87 victory over Iona in which they scored 52 2nd half points to overtake the Gaels and pull off the upset. They have to be feeling confident coming into this game as Manhattan's defense leaves a lot to be desired, allowing 78.2 points per contest. Fairfield is also 6-1 ATS this season. Any takers???

"The Big 2?"

Every MAAC team can use a 20 point per game scorer and the Stags have one in guard Tyler Nelson. Along with being able to consistently put up points, Nelson occasionally goes out of his element and comes up with an 8 assist, 6 rebound performance as he did against Iona as Fairfield's 2nd leading scorer, Curtis Cobb, put up his 2nd 20 plus point performance in 3 games.

Nelson is the go-to guy as he can shoot from anywhere on the court and is almost automatic from the free throw line. In his last 2 games, Nelson is 9 for 19 in 3 point shooting alone and Manhattan could be in for a long night in dealing with the 1-2 punch of Tyler Nelson and Curtis Cobb.

Not As Bad As Their Record Indicates?

Manhattan hasn't been playing all that bad as of late as they're 3-2 in their last 5 games and one of the losses being against a Top 25 team in Florida State and the other loss recently coming against Marist, 90-88. The Jaspers rely heavily on 5 foot 9 guard Zavier Turner. but Turner has been struggling as of late, unable to crack double digits in his last 2 games. He need's a big game here if Manhattan is to have a chance at winning this game. Turner is averaging a team-high 16.4 points per game.
