Tonight is one of the NBA’s final nights of 2013-2014, and the NBA Odds are plentiful this evening. The Pelicans are going to spend the next few weeks after the season trying to forget about this year.

Pelicans’ plight
If this season wasn’t already tough enough, the Pelicans are going to be without another couple of starters tonight as they head into Oklahoma City. The NBA Odds have the Pelicans as huge +15 ½ underdogs tonight in OKC, and for good reason too.

New Orleans will be without Anthony Davis and Eric Gordon for tonight’s game, as well as until the start of next season. After losing Jrue Holiday and Ryan Anderson this season, the Pelicans were dead in the water before it even got going. Combine that with benching Tyreke Evans all season and now the injuries to Davis and Gordon, and you don’t have many Pelicans left tonight other than Evans.

This is going to put a huge strain on the Pelicans’ already non-existent defense, and the likes of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook will likely have a field day. Even though the Thunder don’t have much else to play for, according to the standings right now, one more win could secure their playoff seed, and they could take some much needed rest after this one.

Currently in the West standings, the Thunder are 3 ½ games back of the Spurs with four games to go, and even though they would not be mathematically eliminated from the #1 seed with a win here, the Spurs would only have to win one more game out of their final three. The Thunder are also 2 ½ games up on the Clippers right now, and with LA idle tonight, it provides the Thunder with an opportunity to secure their standing.

I think they will ise this game as one of their final go-rounds of the regular season. They will take this game seriously, and I think they will blow out the banged up birds because of it. With all of the injuries to New Orleans, and with the Thunder on the verge of being able to rest, they will beat New Orleans easily.

The Sharp Pick
The Thunder have covered their last two games in a row against the Pels, and even though they didn’t cover the game with the larger spread, tonight without Davis in the lineup for New Orleans, they stand no chance, even against the Thunder. OKC has also covered four of their last five games against the Pelicans, and they should be able to cover this lofty spread.

The Thunder have won nine straight games against the Pelicans SU, and OKC is 7-1-1 ATS in their last nine games overall. While I am worried a little bit about their prospects in the playoffs ATS, they should have one last cover in them tonight against the New Orleans Tyrekes. I am laying the points with the home team in the NBA Odds tonight, and I recommend you do the same. Make sure you check out my other NBA Picks of the say as well!

My Pick: Thunder -15 ½
