As we pass the halfway mark of the NBA season it is becoming easier to decipher certain statistics and data to use as a bettor because of the larger sample size. Let’s take a look at some stats that will help determine where to bet your money on the weekend NBA slate.

Washington Wizards vs Orlando Magic

The Wizards come into tonight’s game against the Magic with a league worst 13-15 record against teams under .500 and their inability to take care of business against inferior teams is taking its toll on the team. Frustrations are mounting in Washington as the team that had such high hopes before the season, seems to be stuck in a rut of mediocrity and the only thing that can stop it is giving more effort.

Washington has figured out a style of play without their superstar point guard John Wall and that consists of moving the ball. Over the last three games without Wall, 76% of the Wizards made field goals have been assisted. This means that the Wizards are passing the ball at an exceptional rate and this is allowing for better shot attempts.

Orlando’s season has completely derailed after they started the season hot. At this point, the Magic appear to be sellers in the trade deadline market and every game they play is a showcase for the talent on their roster.

Washington’s problem against .500 teams is to be noted, but so should their impressive 11-6 record ATS in games after a loss. Look for the Wizards to get back on track against the lowly Magic.

New Orleans Pelicans vs Minnesota Timberwolves

New Orleans is still trying to figure out how it will play without DeMarcus Cousins in the lineup, and they took a bit of a blow when Greg Monroe decided yo sign with the Boston Celtics on Friday instead of the Pelicans. Boston was able to offer Monroe $5.5 million, while New Orleans was only able to offer $2 million.

The Timberwolves are getting back on track after Jimmy Butler missed a few games last week due to a respiratory issue. Butler and Jeff Teague have added much needed veteran leadership to the Wolves, and that newfound chemistry is starting to kick in as they have won their last two contests. While the Wolves appear to be getting themselves together, they still lack the physicality down low to be able to compete with the best big man combination in the league.

New Orleans has one of the best records in the league when it comes to playing against the spread on the road. The Pelicans are 16-10 ATS in road games this year and will continue that trend with an eight point spread against the Timberwolves.

Brooklyn Nets vs Milwaukee Bucks

Brooklyn is also much improved from last season, as they have already won 15 games before the halfway mark, after only winning 20 games all of last season. One of the reasons the Nets have been a tough out for opponents has been the emergence of Spencer Dinwiddie as an impact player. Dinwiddie is having a career season with a PER (player efficiency rating) of 20.61, stemming from 11 points per game, 5.6 assists, and 3.1 rebounds per game. The thing that makes Dinwiddie so effective is his combination of above average ball-handling ability and size that allows him to carve through defenses to initiate offense and find open teammates.

The Bucks are riding high on the The Greek Feek allure that is taking the NBA by storm, and while Giannis is still playing at an extremely high level, it is not adding up in wins for his team. Simply put, Giannis’ teammates are letting him down. The Bucks outside shooters have one of the easiest jobs in America because all they have to do is stand in their hot spots and wait for the defense to sink in on Giannis, leaving them wide open.

The Nets are the second best team in the NBA in ATS win percentage with a record of 32-20-1. Brooklyn will continue their winning ways for bettors this weekend.
