Wagering on a meeting of tanking teams can be volatile. However, for tonight's game between Orlando and New York, the first-half total looks like a steal for your NBA picks.

The Magic failed to score 90 points in four of their last seven games. But while that doesn’t sound very good, it’s probably exactly how they drew it up. Orlando has no desire to win games at this point in the season.

It has been more than a decade since Dwight Howard was there, single-handedly leading them to the NBA Finals. Since then the Magic have been nothing but a tank-fest to close out seasons, and their lack of offense lately is a symptom of the tanking.

I’m not saying the Villanova Wildcats could beat the Magic right now. Wait … yes I am!

However, with all that in mind, the Knicks aren’t good, either. Although they are slight home favorites on tonight's NBA odds board, they will likely be without their two best big men.

Enes Kanter might not play, and with Kristaps Porzingis out for the season, there is little to stop the Magic wings and bigs from getting into the paint. Without Kanter, who is not really a rim protector anyway, the Knicks’ defense is going to be Swiss cheese.

The last time these teams met was at the end of February, and Orlando led 69-63 at halftime. I doubt tonight's first half produces that many points but, with little defense from either team, I expect this one to be fast-paced enough for the first-half "over" to cash with your NBA picks.
