The Cavaliers may have fallen out of the No. 1 seed in the East, but they still have some pretty favorable odds when it comes to advancing past the Pacers in the first round. Check out our best series price pick.
While the Cavaliers may be heavy favorites to run through the Eastern Conference and even though they are heavy -1250 NBA betting favorites to win their first round series against the Pacers, there may be money to be made in later rounds.
The Cavs went 11-15 to close out the regular season, and even though they chose health over seeding, one has to wonder whether or not they would have gotten the No. 1 seed even if they were healthy and weren’t resting LeBron James.
However, when it comes to beating the Pacers, there may not even be a good play to be had. The only good money will be to bet that this series goes longer than anyone is suggesting, which is tough to bet on when it’s the Pacers you’re needing to come through.
Indiana did beat the Cavs back in November, (LeBron did not play in that one), but since then Cleveland has sent Indiana down three straight times, including a heartbreaking double-overtime game a few weeks ago that Indiana probably should have won.
The Sharp Pick
If the Pacers can’t win games that like to warm them up for potentially bigger things to come in the playoffs, there is very little chance they can actually rise to the occasion. I see the Cavs easily winning their first two games in Cleveland, and then after that it really all comes down to whether they can sweep or win in five.
Indiana likely won’t win more than one game in this series, and with Tristan Thompson back healthy the Cavs don’t need to worry about the painted area. In four games against the Pacers this season, Thompson has dominated the Pacers on the boards in averaging 10.8 per game. Along with LeBron and Kyrie Irving having decimated the Pacers this season, look for this one to be a quick series.NBA Free Pick: Cavs -1250 (In 5)Best Line Offered: BetOnline
