For Wednesday’s NBA action we are going to look at some interleague games when Toronto travels to Oklahoma City and Brooklyn goes to New Orleans. Oddsmakers have come out with some pretty high totals for these matchups, but will both these games go over the total?

Toronto at Oklahoma City

With an impressive win over Houston, Oklahoma City is starting to look like the team that most people expected with the new acquisitions of Carmelo Anthony and Paul George. Today they take on one of the best teams in the East in Toronto and oddsmakers have come out with a pretty high total of 210. Although both teams can put up some points for my NBA pick I’m going to back under the total in this matchup. On the season Toronto has had some impressive offensive numbers ranking fifth in the NBA in efficiency and averaging 40.6 field goals made per game which ranks them fourth. However, they are facing a totally revamped Oklahoma City defense that currently is allowing just 36.3 field goals made per game by opponents ranking them second in the league. On the other side of the ball, Oklahoma City will probably not find things too easy with a Toronto defense that has also been extremely good ranking sixth in the league in opponent shooting efficiency, as well as ranking in the top 10 in every defensive category. These are two very talented teams and I look for the defenses to step up in this matchup.

The NBA Pick: Toronto Oklahoma City UNDER 210

Brooklyn at New Orleans

The NBA odds have come out at a really big 220.5 for this game and on closer look it makes sense. For my NBA pick in this matchup, I’m going to back over the big total and look for this game to turn into a track meet. On the season Brooklyn has had their ups and downs offensively but I like the fact they average 87.3 attempts for game which ranks them fifth in the league. As well, Brooklyn loves to shoot the three and they're second and third in the league respectively in attempts and makes per game from distance. This will match up well against a New Orleans team that has been terrible from defending from beyond the arc allowing opponents to drop 11.43 pointers per game which ranks them 25th in the league. On the other side of the ball New Orleans ranks in the top three in just about every offensive category averaging 41.5 field goals made per game and shooting 48.9% from the floor both ranking second in the NBA. Brooklyn will have their hands full and because of their tempo, allowing 41.6 field goals made per game, this game should be extremely high-scoring.

The NBA Pick: Brooklyn New Orleans over 220.5
